My ipod touch will not locate at home
My ipod touch recently cannot locate itself at home via the maps program. It works at work, but not at home, and suggestions?

Eric someone else had this issue recently as well. She cannot get her touch to locate her at home. We found that there are some Linksys routers that change their mac address to the same address and they show up in our database over 100,000 times. Our systems are set to ignore these and this might be the cause of your problem. Can you please confirm your make and model of your wireless router.

Also, a router that just popped up (today, in fact) nearby is positioning me 10 miles away or so. Should I manually submit it to fix it?

Never mind - I think I found the problem. Here's my post from the other thread about this:
So to follow up - I finally got in touch with Ryan directly and he helped me sort out what is (probably) the issue. My MAC address was being rejected by their database because it is considered "ubiquitous". In other words, lots of routers had this MAC address, so it couldn't be used for unique locations. The reason for this is that I flashed my Linksys router with DD-WRT firmware for other reasons, and by default DD-WRT uses the same MAC addresses in all installations, rather than maintaining the original MAC of the router. So anyone running "out-of-the-box" DD-WRT firmware on a wireless router would have this wireless MAC. I set up wireless cloning in the router admin to clone the original MAC of the router (from the label on the router) and submitted this MAC to Skyhook. I'll post back when (if?) I get results. Here's hoping. -
Update: cloning the correct MAC finally worked. My AP showed up in Loki about a week after I submitted it.

Are you seeing this with out-of-the-box Linksys routers, too? This was my problem, but only because I flashed the router with aftermarket firmware (DD-WRT).

Inappropriate?We see that especially with the DD-WRT OS routers! There is some issue where it changes its MAC address to the same exact one. There were models of specific Linksys routers and some versions of the firmware that would cause this. That is your problem, im almost certain.

Inappropriate?Shane, I checked my mac address on router sticker, which is what I sent you, and what the router had. They were different by one letter at the end. I enabled MAC cloning, and corrected it to the sticker on the router. The router is a linksys WRT-54G2 V1. The mac address is 00:21:29:76:E6:9A Could you please check to see if I'm in your database. Please email me, so as to resolve this issue.
I've done all suggested so far, to no avail. Any suggestions????

Inappropriate?Someone come help me in this rural hole. 00:21:29:CE:32:5D. I submitted this and another mac, just one off from that, presumably the WLAN, AT LEAST two weeks ago, or so it would seem - but I have yet to be located.
I'm using a Linksys WRT54GS; the MAC above is what is printed on the bottom of the hardware (the only one, actually; the second I submitted was retrieved via software).
