what about South America? does submiting mac adresses work?

if I supply a mac addresses for hotspots in south america, chile to be exact, does it work?
I already submitted the one near my home and I was planning in adding more
but I an not sure if that will let my ipod touch find its location since you don't make any reference to south america on your coverage area
