I purchased an online number in my skype business panel and when I go to assign it under all of the team members it reads: "Online numbers No online number assigned
You cannot assign online numbers to this member."
It didnt read that 2 days ago when I purchased it. I tried to assign it then but it wouldnt the page would reload with no changes. I sent in a message to support 2 days ago when I incially purchased with no reply as of yet I am getting very frustrated. Please advise ASAP

Inappropriate?I am having the same problem too! I've e-mailed support and when I tried doing this again today it read You cannot assign online numbers to this member. I purchased mine yesterday.
I did get an email response back from skype. They're aware of the problem and working on it.
I recommend checking out the heartbeat for updates:
http://heartbeat.skype.com/
the first post on that page is titled: Online number allocation using Business Control Panel.
I'm a bit upset too though, I wanted to use this number for my business, YESTERDAY!!!!
If this doesn't get solved in the next day or 2, most likely going to try and get a refund and get the online number through the account I want it attached to, not through the business control panel.
Advise to all: only choose the minimum length subscription when it comes to skype's services when you decided to add a new one. Smaller the investment, smaller the risk.
I’m confident

Inappropriate?I have this problem too. I'm surprised at Skype's flakiness. I've had problems like this before when trying to change an online number on my subscription. Not impressed!
I’m annoyed and disappointed
-
Inappropriate?NetWebLogic, were your problems ever resolved? If so, how fast, how did it happen?
-
Not yet. I received an email saying they were aware of the problem and are working on it. -
Inappropriate?I'm having this problem also, still not resolved after nearly a week. how they can say this is a 'business' service is beyond me.
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem - trying to get skype for business setup and feeling very disappointed!!
-
Inappropriate?I have the problem too, had th same response form Skype and still have 2 numbers sitting out there, unassignable.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Shame on you Skype! This is what you consider a business service? I feel like i was scammed. Should have stayed with your regular service, at least expectations were low. Now that I've assigned my personal number to a business control panel, i have to pay more money for number that I can't assign - and that I can't export from the BCP. And of course, nobody can reach me on that number. And no update on your "heartbeat" page for over a week -- must be summer holidays?
I’m pissed off
-
Inappropriate?I've contacted Skype about this and received a generic reply, and no reply to my recent one. The recent one was sent three days ago....
I've written about it on http://bit.ly/CThqd and am tweeting it. Everyone, please retweet, digg, whatever. Let's make Skype move on this issue, they're obviously not caring enough right now.
I’m even angrier
-
Inappropriate?just received this reply:
As of July 21st 2009, it is no longer possible to assign online numbers
to your Business Control Panel for regular consumer members of your
Business Control Panel. New online numbers purchased after July 22nd can
only be assigned to business owned accounts created over the Business
Control Panel. Business accounts can be created here:
https://secure.skype.com/business/man... under ?Create a
business account?.
Online numbers purchased before that date can be assigned to regular
consumer accounts of the Business Control Panel as well as to the
business accounts. However, please be aware that in case the old online
number is assigned to a business account, it cannot be assigned to any
of the old consumer accounts of the Business Control Panel while it
belongs to the same Business Control Panel.
The online numbers purchased after July 21st can be freely assigned and
reassigned between the single business accounts of the Business Control
Panel by the administrator.
Thank you for your understanding and let us know if you have any
additional questions.
Which is terrible as i have bought a number and assigned credit to a range of existing accounts via the new business control panel and it was not clear at all within the website. -
This is very dodgy. What's most annoying about this "policy change" is that they never decided to warn people about this. Very convenient to learn this AFTER buying a number. I feel bad for those with lots of employee skype accounts....
Nobody from skype is officially commenting. I received a completely different reply (see my blog post - http://bit.ly/CThqd) -
I don't know if this is correct or not but if it is:
1) This is not stated anywhere, and what's the point of adding existing people to your business account and 'managing' them if you can't assign them a phone number. I would estimate this makes skype business all but useless to most people as it does me.
2) The business account creation process from the business control panel is also broken:

As I posted here already:

yes, it's very bad business and I wonder if they should even be allowed to do that because it's very misleading. They should be offering refunds to anyone that got misled.
I am waiting now 4 days for a refund request from skype on this. They have also failed to answer anyone's questions (with an acceptable response), and their "heartbeat" post acknowledging this problem has had no update for over 2 weeks. The skype forums have also had no good answers from any reps, neither has this area.
I've updated my post (http://netweblogic.com/other/skype-dr...) and added your link to the broken image on my post too.The only way they'll listen is if enough people complain. -
Inappropriate?agreed its pretty bad. we are down the cost of some subscriptions & credit, but thankfully just starting out so its not a huge problem, but for other established users i can see a nightmare for them.
puts me right off skype as reliable & trustworthy a business tool. -
Inappropriate? This is rediculous because now I have to go buy a new subscription for my emoplyees 'business' account skype addresses.
I’m now poor
-
Inappropriate?Funny that... Submit support request link has disappeared from the bottom of the page. All support pages for this issue seem to loop back to the main support area...
-
Inappropriate?Still not working! Grrr.. I have a brand new skype phone sitting in my office that is absolutely useless until this is resolved, and we've heard nothing, and no progress has been made in over two weeks!
I’m really really really frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I agree that this was quite annoying, but their solution did work for me. I created a new business account under our Control Panel for the employee and told him to use that one instead for work purposes. Then the phone number I'd already purchased, but was unable to assigne earlier, was easily assigned to this new business account.
I've since created one more new business account. Sorry it's not working for you...
I’m dissappointed in the new policy mid-cycle, but my issue is resolved
-
Inappropriate?Very frustrated with this issue. I've purchased several subscriptions and online numbers for my employees with the intention of them using this as their business phone!! I have about 6 others I NEED to add... as Skype is our way of doing business! This is ridiculous, and I will probably end up dropping Skype for our business needs if this doesn't get fixed asap!
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate? My issue was resolved by a refund. Frankly, it doesn't solve my problem or make up for the time spent on this, but I'd rather not spend any further time on it and move on.... Thankfully I don't have enough users for it to be a major problem.
I’m not satisfied, but won't take it any further
-
Hi Marcus, can you tell me who you emailed specifically or gave you the refund? -
I did it via the skype control panel. There's a support link somewhere there and then you have to find another link within it. Not easy to find but it's there. -
Inappropriate?Same problem here, a trivial issue made into a major problem by Skypes intransigence. This is an absurd state of affairs and makes me seriously reconsider using skype for my business. This is my first experience of trying to use skype for anything more complicated than phoning my friends & if this is an example of their attitude toward customers, they're going to lose this one.
I'm currently pursuing a refund. Thanks for the info guys.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?God in heaven. Have the same problem right now and am so disappointed to learn of this *odd* policy change.
While I can see the absolute genius in having the business accounts I wish 1) they had told me previously so I had known that before I created an account for my new employee and 2) that I could still assign number to my existing skype accounts.
Take it from a user who has been with Skype for several years: They are really getting worse and worse and worse!
I’m deeply frustrated
-
Inappropriate?I thought I had a similar problem, but mine was solved by chat support:
The administrator of a business account cannot allocate himself a number. He has to create a separate user account and assign the number there.
Oh, and if I understand correctly users cannot have voicemail unless they have a subscription. Only an administrator can use the voicemail function, but he cant have an online number --- makes sense right? Not really...
I’m annoyed
-
Inappropriate? So they created a help page that says you're screwed if you've done this and that they've changed their policy not to allow it here:
https://support.skype.com/faq/FA10244...
I’m Pissed off
-
Well, for me personally there is a glimmer of hope in that message on the FAQ: They say they will shortly provide a migration from personal account to business account. If they do it will solve my problem with this particular case.
