1.2 doesn't authenticate on Windows Live Spaces
New version announces live spaces functionality but when I try to authenticate it fails. Details are correct, but no joy.

Inappropriate?Hi
Okay I will look into this. Is it definitely version 1.2? The new version is 1.3 though.

Damien

Inappropriate?Hey no worries, the crimbo spirit must be paid. I am in no way inconvinienced or bothered, just figured it was worth mentioning.
Have a good christmas to you and your developers ;-)
I’m in the mood for dancing....

Inappropriate?I cant authenticate either - my login is a .co.uk email address; can I ask what format your login is in? It could be that some formats of login can't get through reblogr.
Regards
D.

Inappropriate?Peter and Damien, I have exactly the problem on 1.3.1. using a hotmail address in the following form but not the following address: x_word@hotmail.com
I’m Flying to Cancun with my Girlfriend, without mobile blog updates this time.

Inappropriate?Unfortunately, you need to tell Windows Live Spaces that you want to be able to publish directly. Please follow the instructions here
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb259698.aspx
this will result in you setting up a separate 'password' or 'secret' as they call it. And then using your spaces name (not your email address) as the login identity. -
Inappropriate?Peter, I already have the email publishing enabled, and have a secret. I was just advised by itunes that ver. 1.3.2 was ready for download. I will delete everything related to lifecast and reinstall with the newest release.
I suggest the login screen for live spaces be clearer or have help for exactly what goes in the fields.
-
Inappropriate?Ok, Thanks, and what 'user_name' where you using?
You should not be using the email address you use to log on with in the web interface. -
Inappropriate?Peter, I am using the name of my live space x-word. I had tried several different values for the user name. After deleting and re-installing, it worked just fine on the first try.

Inappropriate?Did the windows live spaces login issue get identified/resolved? I am still unable to authenticate, despite everything being correct and I am starting to look elsewhere to enable me to use the Live Spaces, which is a shame, as LifeCast is working fine for another blog I am using with it, be nice to have it all in one app.
I’m still neutral.
-
Inappropriate?Jarmstrong, as far as we understood, it had been resolved (Don noted above that he was able to get it working)
Did you follow the instructions on windows live spaces help pages regarding enabling email posting and setting the secret up?
Cheers, P. -
Hmm, well I've setup e-mail posting and the secret word, but the lifecast help instructions indicate it is the Windows Live login you need to use, though I have tried both with no success. I have recently moved to an iPhone from an iPod Touch so the application has been reinstalled as a result. Very odd...let me try the uninstall/reinstall one more time and I'll post back. -
Inappropriate?Nope, still the same. Details are not correct message.
Yet they are correct....curious...tried login and e-mail+secret -
Inappropriate?the 'username' to use with lifecast is part of the URL to the blog.
for instance, if your blog is at
http://petermorris.spaces.live.com
you would use 'petermorris' as the login name, and the secret word as specified in the email connection page as the password.

this answers the question
-
Inappropriate?Right, well that explains why it has never worked. Now it is working. To be honest, you login to Spaces via Windows Live, the LIfeCast help pop-up and the grey'ed text indicates it's your login name, i.e your Windows Live username password, not hte secret word and the spaces placeholder name.
This could be better explained for the user, kind of a mixture of wording in LifeCast and Microsoft's choice for authentication.
