exit Blog Type selection field when configuring
Right now the only way I can get out of this selection "wheel" is to tap Cancel or Done. Am I missing something?
If I'm not, hopefully you can add a way to accept the choice without exiting the blog configuration screen. Tapping Done saves the selection but means I have to navigate back in to finish configuring. I can find no other way to dismiss the selection wheel so I can get at the configuration fields it's covering up.

Inappropriate?Phil answered me via Twitter:
Tap away from the requestor and drag up the rest of the panel. They're working on it.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?yeah totally hear ya, when testing i had the same thing about it selecting "targets" - a bit of work needs to be done there. thanks for bringing it up again. keep posting!
I’m buzzed!

Inappropriate?Hi Cheryl
Yes the selection wheel has gone in [I believe] version 1.0.1. Some users (even our brainy developers) have had difficulty with synching their iPhones to the new version, i.e. iTunes says it's updated but in reality it hasn't. This problem is by no means unique to lifecast but occurs throughout the app store. As it is, the only way we know of ensuring synchronisation is to uninstall the app and then reinstall it but BEWARE if you do such a thing you will lose your stored lifecasts on the phone so make sure you post to a blog somewhere first.
LifeCast is improving thanks to users such as yourself who post stuff on this site so stick with it your comments really do count!
Regards
Damien
I’m confident

Inappropriate?Well, meanwhile, Phil's answered my question and no worries. Don't know why I didn't try that solution on my own. Perhaps I did, but during a phone freeze. Anyway, it's quite a minor issue.
Can't wait for the August release - keep up the superb work!
I’m excited
-
Inappropriate?Out of interest - have you managed to update to version 1.0.1 which doesn't have that selection wheel thingy?
D.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, as the guys have already said, we decided this was the wrong user interface to use for this element. Hey, it's a new platform, and we're learning all the time ! :)
The good news is if you try checking for updates on the App store, version 1.0.1 changes this control for a more familiar style you'll probably recognise from the iPhone 'Settings' application. -
Inappropriate?@Damien & @Andy, yesterday I used iTunes' check for updates, and it told me there were none for any of my apps. This morning there was an iTunes update that I installed, and suddenly 14 of my installed apps, including LifeCast, had updates. So I'm downloading 1.01. now.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate? Is there a way on the iPhone itself to see what version of LifeCast is installed? I downloaded the update via iTunes along with some other apps. But the scroll-wheel picker thing is still there on my iPhone after sync. I'll try accessing the app store from my phone instead.
-
Inappropriate?Hm, bad news. App Store on my iPhone tells me all my apps are up to date. Do you suppose I need to delete LifeCast entirely and download a fresh copy?
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate?scroll wheel is definately not in version 1.0.1
Agreed if you could see the version somewhere prominently in the app then it would be a whole lot easier! We're looking at this - it will probably surface in a 'About' section within the app.

D.
I’m unsure
-
Inappropriate?I know deleting and then re-installing it will fix the sync issue but better would be if the app store started to magically work!
If you delete the app you WILL lose the lifecast data currently on the phone.
I will prompt Andy to reply to this thread again as he is closest to this 'problem'

D.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, if you really really can't get the update then deleting the app and re-downloading it should get you the most up to date version (but then, you would think that just updating would do that too, huh ? ). But if you do this you WILL loose any LifeCast data that's on the device. It's up to you as to whether that's worth it or not....
I have had various problems updating apps and I haven't worked out what the best way to get it to work is. I strongly suspect that there will be updated firmware for the iPhone out soon, that should address a lot of the issues people are having.
You can see the version of any installed App using iTunes - do a 'Get info' on the application, and you'll see the version number there. -
Inappropriate?Well, the app store did show LifeCast as one of my apps that needed updating. Perhaps the fact I had 13 others to update was part of the problem. In any case I've deleted LifeCast and reinstalled, and now I do see the pretty new colors and the wheel thing is gone in favor of a new page.
Now though, there's a new minor problem. When I select my blog type and return to the main configuration screen, the previous information I entered is lost (name of LifeCast and AutoLocate events ON) and I have to re-enter it. D'oh!
I’m amused
-
Inappropriate? That problem you mentioned has definitely been fixed - I thought it was fixed in 1.0.1, but it's certainly fixed in 1.1.
1.1 is nearly ready, and should be making its way to the App store this week ! -
Inappropriate?@Andy, re: seeing version number in iTunes - yes of course, but I was wanting to check what version was on the iPhone. Since I've deleted and redownloaded I can't check what I had before after attempting to update the app within iTunes, sorry. In any case I do now have the correct version on the iPhone. I only had one blog to reconfigure so it was not overly painful.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate? It's too bad the App Store is so flaky. I understand things won't be perfect with such a new system.
I’m thankful
-
Inappropriate?Great, I look forward to 1.1 & hope the update actually works this time - I'll let you all know.
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?yeah - we all look forward to a 'better' app store!
I'm glad everything wasn't too painful in the end and it's great that you are using the app!
Regards
