Internationalisation
The next release(s) of LifeCast will see further internationalisation of both our software and our website, http://lifecast.sleepydog.net.
Currently, we support English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. In addition to these languages we will translate our software into Cantonese, Dutch, Japanese, Hindi, Mandarin and Russian.
Unfortunately, we are not able at a personal level to offer support in all these languages - between the development team we can manage a mixture of French and German but that doesn't mean that foreign language speakers shouldn't be able to post questions etc.
Part of our website translation work will encourage foreign language users to use getsatisfaction and if they do we will endevour to get a translation of the question done and investigate the problem.
Regards
Damien

Inappropriate?Dear Damien,
I am a professional Interpreter and Translator that graduated in English, German and Spanish. I also hold a master in Conference Interpreting. My mother tongue is Italian and I am currently specializing in Dutch, ever since I moved to the Netherlands.
I have been trained to translate everything during my academic education, from literary texts to technical ones (e.g. juridical, economic, IT, etc..). I am also able to use CAT software (like Trados).
I read your post and I am deeply interested in this project. I especially think that I am the right person for this job, since I am already using LifeCast with my husband. I therefore have an insight into the product that other translators might not have.
If you are interested in my service I would be happy to send you my curriculum vitae.
Yours faithfully,
Alessandra Nicoletti
I’m excited!

Inappropriate?Hi Alessandra
Sorry - the work has already been outsourced! The problem is the original version of LifeCast was translated into four target languages by independants like yourself - and it was more of a challenge co-ordinating the individual translators than I had hoped. For the next release of LifeCast we have decided to support a further six languages so the reality is that I have had to approach an agency which can do the co-ordination for me. I'm all in favour of the little guy getting the work over the big guy but in this instance I had to put the product first!
Regards
D.
I’m undecided
