long posting, a problem?
hi all,
i am very happy that i have downloaded and tried LifeCast because it is really a cool application to have. after several short test message and photos were sent to my blog and i confirmed that it is working. i started blogging with LifeCast. soon later, i encountered a problem. i was too excited with LifeCast and typed in a 500+words blog post. but it just could not be sent out. the publish button just keep rotating and no error message. any idea?
actually it will be good if the publish button on the page where you have all your events listed should be bigger. maybe the size of the delete button when u slide your finger right over an event.

Inappropriate?Hi Kenpuan
That's a lot of text for LifeCast! We have had quite a few reports relating to the 'forever posting' effect you are getting - the majority of people with this problem have been using EDGE. For the most part, as far as we can tell (and we've tested posting with huge amounts of text) it is simply a network issue at the point of posting. Thing is, even a 500 word post is very small compared to posting an image so really it's highly unlikely to be a 'size of post' issue.
My suggestion would be to keep trying but if you are fed up with trying, let me know exactly your situation when posting, i.e. type of blog, size of text, type of network etc. and I will attempt to recreate your problem.
Sorry you're suffering with any problem and I hope we can sort it out.
Regards
D.
I’m undecided

Inappropriate?i have been using WiFi connection through my home network, and the API i was using is Blogger. anyway how can i tell the size of text? thanks for the respond. i have been trying for a day and will carry on trying.
rgds,

I’m still trying
-
Inappropriate?Hmm - WiFi should be the fastest and most reliable of all network options.
I'll do some tests today with blogger to see what happens when I go past 500 words.
As for post size well 500 words of say 5 characters each is going to weigh in at 2500 chars, call it 2.5k - shoot lets call it a 3k which is being generous.
so we're looking at anything up to 3,072 bytes (3 x 1024) of character information for your post
A 800x600 image which is our current image posting size (version 1.1.1) is going to weigh in at
800 x 600 x 3 (3 bytes for each 24bit CMYK value - we use png files)
which weighs in at 1,440,000 bytes.
So, in terms of post size, 500 words "shouldn't" be an issue. I'll get on and do some tests now.

D.
I’m undecided (still)

Inappropriate?yea, since your theory of posting images which is much larger in size was not a problem so the size of the text will not be the culprit then. on top of that, i just got an error message popped up suddenly, it says,
'posting error
there was an error posting this event to the blog.
(null)
please verify the blog configuration'
i did a test connection and it says no problem. i tried to send an image post and a text post, both no problem showing up on my blog also.

I’m glimmed of hope

Inappropriate?Hi Ken
Thanks for the update. While I have more testing that I can do I have to say my initial testing proves your point, i.e. massive text posts just stall endlessly. I haven't managed to get the above error yet but I'm sure I will at some point.
Thanks for your deadicated testing we will look to fix this kind of problem as soon as we can.
Regards
Damien
I’m sad we found a genuine gub

Inappropriate?Hi Ken
I have just managed to post a massive text post. I switched off the phone and after restarting the post went first time. While I understand this is something you should not have to do, can you try doing a reset to see if your post does go?

ps. If it does - send me a link because you will have the world record post size!
I’m thankful

Inappropriate?I too am having problems after loading 2.1 iPhone. On wifi or edge only getting 50% of messages posted to blogger acct. Even short messages. Also posted one photo to blogger fine. Next photo goes to picasa album but not post. Any help?
I’m sad
-
Inappropriate?I am having the long post problem as well. I have the (null) error and my post (to Blogger) is just text. A second "test post" consisting of the word Test in the subject and Test in the body DOES post just fine.
I'll be watching this thread.

Inappropriate?Okay
We are stumped on this one at the moment - here is our plan - with the introduction of 1.2 we will start to use reblogr technology with LifeCast - and as a priority we will move our blogger support to reblogr which means we here at SD will be able to diagnose what is going wrong somewhat better. So while this doesn't help you all immediately, blogger support via reblogr.com should help us find out what these problems are.
thanks for sticking with us anyway and being so patient.
Regards
D.
I’m frustrated - it feels like a niggle to us - but to our customers - it's a real pain
