multiple movable type blogs on the same host
I have just installed LifeCast on my iPhone and am trying to configure it to work with my blogs.
First, I have two blogs on the same server. I'd like to configure each of them with LifeCast, but do not see this as an option.
Second, I'd like to be able to put my posts in categories or add tags from LifeCast - I do not see how to do this.
Third (and last), is there any documentation on this tool where I may read to get answers to simple questions such as this?

Inappropriate? If you have multiple separate installations of MT on the same host, should they not have different URLs for their endpoint? You should be able to enter the different URLs for the blogs endpoint and talk to each one individually.
-
With other tools that use the XMLRPC, I put in the url, then it asks to select a blog from all that are hosted on that site. So I guess I'll have to dig into it to see if I can pass some parameter in via the URL to direct it to the different blogs. -
Inappropriate? It's also worth mentioning that each LifeCast can be configured with one blog only at the moment - to talk to two different blogs you'll need to create two separate LifeCasts. Multiple blogs per LifeCast is something we have considered and may introduce in the future.
Likewise, there is currently no support for tagging and categories in LifeCast - again, this is something we have considered and may add - although our ability to do so depends on the APIs of the various blogs, so support for this may never be universal.
As for documentation and support: this is the best place to get support. We don't have any detailed documentation, if there's anything in particular you're stuck with please post a question here.

Personally, having multiple blogs in this tool would be VERY helpful. It looks like it's setup for it, so hopefully this is something you can add soon.
As for not supporting categories and tags...that will be the show-stopper for me. Without support for categories, it's unusable in my application. -
Inappropriate?I don't so much care about using LifeCast to post to multiple blogs - I just want to post to one. However, I host multiple blogs on a single MT installation, and there's no way for me to specify which single blog I want to use Lifecast for.
-
Inappropriate?Darren, lifecast communicates with your blog via the metaweblog interface, this requires that each blog have an individual 'endpoint'. Now, Movable Type, has a separate endpoint defined for each blog.
For instance, if you have two blogs hosted on the same machine, and they are each accessible by
http://myhost.com/blog1
and
http://myhost.com/blog2
The endpoints will be
http://myhost.com/blog1/cgi-bin/mt/mt...
and
http://myhost.com/blog2/cgi-bin/mt/mt...
so, there should be no problem with setting up a connection to the specific blog you wish to publish to.
I hope this helps, if it doesn't, please come back to me and we can look at it in more depth. -
That's not how it's setup on my server. There's a single endpoint with multiple blogs behind it. I can manage them all from the same interface and share components. With other tools that I've used, they have a place for a "Blog-ID" in addition to the endpoint to direct the posts to the correct blog. -
Just seconding William's comment. -

Inappropriate?Ok, checking the implementation of Movable Type, I see that we default to the first blog in the list of blogs returned.
I will discuss with Damien when we can do something to get this sorted. -
Inappropriate?OK, I have discussed it with Damien, and we have now enabled an additional service. It is called the Metaweblog service.
It is like Movable Type, but instead of assuming it can infer the blog id, it asks for it, and the end point.
If you have any problems accessing this service, let me know. -
Seems like it has some issues. When I complete the information for a new LifeCast and add a blog using the Metaweblog service, upon clicking "Done" my iPhone goes back to the springboard. When I go back into LifeCast, the entry that I created is not there. -
Inappropriate?looks like we may have a solution within the next 30 mins....

Inappropriate?Yes, sorry, this should be sorted.

This seems to work now, but I do get an error when I post an entry to my blog. The error says "Posting Error. There was an error posting this event to the blog. internal server error. Please verify the blog configuration." The second attempt to post worked fine.
