bulk, single and email uploads fail for no apparent reason?

I registered yesterday (GMT), but all my uploads failed (file sizes were fine), except for two.
I deleted the 'Oops's and tried again, to no avail. One file has been "currently being converted to SlideShare's format" for 21 hours now.
Then, I mailed the remaining files to the custom email address, but this morning they hadn't arrived. My first upload of today worked :-), the second one failed.

Is this normal?
