Disallow embedding of slides
Can I prevent others from embedding my slides on their blogs? There's something like that in Youtube. You can still keep your videos public so others can view, but they can't embed. Thanks.

Inappropriate?Gwen,
Thats an interesting idea - one that I have never heard before. Can you tell me the use case for this. Why would you want your slides public, but not allow embedding.
Thanks for using SlideShare!

Inappropriate? With embedding, you can't control where other people put your slides. Your slides may end up in sites or blogs that actually go against your beliefs or your initial intentions when you created the slides. That's a concern, I guess. I just don't want my slides to end up in dubious places. But I don't want to restrict it to only a select group of people (with secret URL). So I think not allowing people to embed it might be a good solution. I'm not sure if this explanation is clear enough.
On the same note, is there a function to disallow downloading? Or restricted downloading - like only upon request and approval, that sort of thing.
Thanks. -
Inappropriate?Yes, you can disable downloading.. go to the edit slideshow section; the option is there ...
Disallowing embedding for public slideshows: as rashmi points out, this is the first request we are getting ... let's discuss this internally ... stay tuned -
Inappropriate?I'd ike to see this feature too - disallowing embedding for public slideshows.
Ie, I would like to embed the slideshows (and also use the presentation widget) on my site, to allow people to view the content in context with other information on the page. But I would like to dis-allow embedding, for the same reasons gwen mentioned. Should people wish to use it, they could request a download.
Any news on this issue?
Thanks -
Inappropriate?Hi,
I wanted to chime in on this point too. I think it would make sense to have an option to ONLY embed on your own sites/blogs, but not allow others to embed elsewhere. You want to share content, but control the manner and context in which it is shared.
Hope this is something you can provide a workaround to do??
Thanks for a great service.
Mitch
I’m pleased, but not fully satisfied
