Is it better to set to be Downloadable, or not?
I have uploaded three PDFs to my SlideShare and set them to not be downloadable. Is that generally a good idea and what others are doing? And if you allow download, what are the best settings for that [PDF] to protect against copyright violations.

Inappropriate?IMO, always better to set as downloadable. You get a lot more views.
You could use Creative Commons license which requires attribution. But if you really care about copyright, then you might not want to allow downloading.
its a choice. For example, I care more about my ideas traveling so I always allow downloading. And I don't mind if people copy my ideas (I ask for them to reference me and most of them do).
