Is there a full screen mode for embedded player?
I do love what you guys have created. My only question is that when I embed a slideshare player into a blog or website, the embedded player does not have a full screen button. Many of the slideshows require larger views for some of them contain small texts. But when a person who sees the slideshare show on a blog wants to see it full screen, he/she has to jump over to the slideshare website and click the full screen button on the specific show. This takes too much of the viewer's time in my opinion.
If possible, could the embedded players have the full screen button as well?? or am I missing something here? like there IS a full screen button?? (which i can't seem to fund..)
I'm sure many of us are wondering about this?
Thank you!!

Inappropriate? Its not a problem of finding - there is no full screen option for the embedded player. You do need to jump to SlideShare site for the full screen option! Sorry :-)
But we are listening to what users want in this regards. -
Inappropriate? They can also use the menu to increase the size. Just right click on your slideshare on your page and click zoom in. Just add it as text under your slideshare or in the introduction.

This option is interesting... and I did find that function before I read this post. However, I believe it is a "zoom in" function and does not increase the size of the player. Nice... but, not quite the solution I was hoping for. -
Inappropriate? If you have an embedded document in the player and the text is small its impossible to read... Hence the full screen most would be nice...

Inappropriate? That's the reason I will not slideshare on my blogs.
Without the full screen embed version it's useless for me.

Inappropriate?I am curious why this is so important. After all, full screen is only a click away - and this is the norm with other embedded players.
Thanks for explaining. -
Quick note: The view on SlideShare icon in the bottom right of the embedded player is not working for me. However, the text link below the player is. ... Just FYI. To answer your question: I'm building tutorials to teach folks how to use my new sites and services. Anything instructional can include small details. If small details are included, I think you can immediately understand why it would be important to have the full screen option. And, I hope you will agree that, especially in a tutorial type of setting, it would be best not to distract the "student" with the other entertaining avenues on your site. This speaks to the "Away" issue offered by Casey below. For me... I am quickly falling in love with the SlideCast approach as this suits my need very well and is rather efficient. The only thing missing is the full screen option. Without the full screen option, I'm finding myself considering either changing the layout of my slides (possibly decreasing the effectiveness of my tutorials) or taking a ScreenCast approach as opposed the the more efficient SlideCast method. There you have it. I hope that helps. Kindly, - Jim -
Yes, thats very helpful. Thanks! -
Inappropriate?Do you need ask why it's important when your users are telling you it is?
Which other 'embedded players' are comparable to yours? How many other embedded players let you embed pdf documents that can contain really small text? -
Inappropriate?yes, I do like to ask. In fact, I always ask our users the "why". And its good to hear that the "why" from as many people as possible :->
thanks -
Inappropriate?"Away" is the key word for me. The ideal experience - for both customer and vendor - is to stay on the site. People can visit my site, for example, and view short embedded YouTube demo clips without leaving. The print on the slideshare embedded presentation is too small for that, so I currently link to the study presentation on SlideShare.
I'd very much prefer if folks could view the study - maybe start them at a selected eye-catching page of the study results - when they are on my page. They'd be more likely to view the other slides in the first place and less likely to get sidetracked on slideshare.net.
Make sense?
I don't even need a "full screen", the normal display size on slideshare would be fine - just not a thumbnail.

Inappropriate?Oh... and one more point for anyone watching this topic. I was able to increase the size of the player by changing the size setting in the embed code. That is not very convenient... but it worked.

Inappropriate? Many novice user don't know they can watch in Full Screen just a click away

Inappropriate?Oh my god, yes ... full screen button in embedded player!
My audience is very much a novice one. The primary advantage of slideshare for me is so that they don't have to deal with a second interface - i.e. powerpoint - or even navigate away from a page. Having them go to a site that looks nothing like the interface they were just in - and in fact has a whole going on - will confuse the hell out of them.
I realize you're probably reluctant to make the player too self-contained, as you want to drive people to your site. That's fair - we can only complain so much about a free service. However, there's no argument that the feature would be invaluable for your users.
I don't understand thelastminute's frustration over your wanting more details about a functionality request, but surely you can't pretend to not understand why we'd want such a thing. -
Inappropriate? She wasn't asking for details about a feature request. She was asking "why this is so important"... It's perfectly obvious to anyone who has ever tried to use the embed feature why it's important to have a full screen mode...

Inappropriate? One thing I have learnt about products is "never assume" that you know what's on people's minds. And its also very helpful to hear people articulate the why in their own words. Once in a while, it turns out that we can build something even more appropriate once we understand the why, rather just the what.
Thanks for sharing. -
Inappropriate? You don't have to assume anything! People are telling you they want a really simple feature. That's it! It's not rocket science.
It's just one simple button that toggles full screen mode. You don't need to conduct a focus groups about it.

Alright thelastminute, I'm giving you one more try just because I find your stubborn refusal to accept the value of inquiry amusing. There are at least two good reasons for her to ask the value of a feature request: 1. Asking questions like "why" and "how" is how the boring and obvious ideas become the interesting and paradigm-shifting. 2. Determining priorities in a situation of limited resources. If you have 10 requests, all of which seem urgent to the people who want them, all of which have obvious value, it's helpful to present a case for each request. All of the obvious reasons for a full-screen button presented above might not be enough to make this a higher priority than cool new feature x that the developers are working. However, all those reasons plus unexpected value y might make it the top priority. Assuming they're willing to give up the extra traffic they get from the click throughs for full-screen, I'm sure they'll get around to adding this feature. In the meantime, I don't see the point in berating people who are trying to help you. -
It's a fraking full screen toggle button guy. It's not some deep philosophical question. There is nothing 'paradigm shifting' about it. It's painfully obvious why they should have this feature. Why should I care how they prioritize feature requests? That's their problem not mine. Not to mention that any developer could implement this feature very easily. They already have the feature on their own site... It's clear they want the traffic and they're willing to piss off a few users to get it. -
Inappropriate?Rashmi - one other thing ... accessibility. We as web developers should aim to make the experience of using our apps as seamless as possible for ALL users.
Thanks for your responsiveness. -
Inappropriate? This was the first "rub" (as in "there's the..."), i found (immediately) in this otherwise very cool application.
