Isn't anyone on this net concerned about copyright law s? I have seen a lot of slide shows that have photos taken from photographic sites were photographers unloaded their photos. Most of these photos are copyright and a lot of your members just take them and use the photos in slide shows. Is this legal ??? Does this site deal with this issue at all ???
I would like to know how Slide share deals with the copyright laws, If at all ?

Inappropriate? There is a link to our copyright and DMCA policy from every page of the site: http://www.slideshare.net/terms#dmca (look for link at the bottom).
If anyone posts copyright concerns about any slideshow, we respond to them following the DMCA process. Slideshows do get removed on the basis of complaints.
If you have a complaint, do send us a DMCA request following the process on this page.
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Welcome to the digital era, Chemo. It's a double-edged sword, to be sure, as Lane Hartwell's case recently showed [http://www.horsepigcow.com/2007/12/16...]. But most of these slideshows are non-commercial use so perhaps they aren't depriving the copyright holders of real income. We're all getting used to the messiness of living in a remixed, mashed up world where it's hard to control how people re-use our work. I think it will take some time to shake out, but sites like Slideshare are responsibly handling the situation by supporting the DMCA process.

Inappropriate? In many ways I think copyright laws are out of date.
There is an interesting editorial in The New York Times that addresses this issue.
The title is "A Tight Grip Can Choke Creativity" by Joe Nocera
