I've been trying to make my slideshow private to "only me." But when I do that the slide never shows up. Any answers please???

Once private, that particular slideshow will be viewable inside your slideshare account when you are logged in...not otherwise...
Did you try that...?
Or did I not get your question correctly? Did you mean you are able to get to the slideshow but the slides dont seem to be coming on in the player?
