Slidecast popularity rankings
Hi there.
My slidecast:
has received 2972 views in three months and has been favorited 15 times. However it doesn't appear at all in the slidecast "popular" section. There are slidecasts there that barely have 600 views and no favorites. What gives?
How does the slidecasts favourites work? Is there a methodology to choosing them? It just seems like the selection is somewhat random.
Best,
David E

Inappropriate?David,
THANKS A TON!
We looked and this is a bug in our system; we did some changes sometime back on the slidecast page and the database query for that is not correct. We shall correct this in our next deployment.
Slidecast popularity is simple - just based on the number of views... nothing else.
Thanks once again ... give us a week and your problem will be solved .

Inappropriate? Some sort of advanced ranking should be able to solve this problem. For instance, there can be an advanced ranking page where we can fill in a weighted average form like [views*40%+favs*40%+recent*20%] and get results ranked accordingly. If we don't like the results, we can change the parameters, activate some deactivate others, change the weightages and so on. Because we will be logged in, these parameters would get saved in some sort of history so that next time we search, we are able to select from any of the past formulae we used.
