Why can't I see slideshows on the SlideShare site?
I'm using IE7 on Windows XP and I can view Slideshare slidecasts and slideshows when they are embedded in blogs or elsewhere - but I can't view them on the SlideShare site! I just get a message about installing Flash8 or higher - which is already installed.
In Firefox I have no problems - and it really seems to be a site specific problem.
Any suggestions?
Have already checked the scripting setting for IE and uninstalled a couple of toolbars.

Can you please open this page in Internet Explorer and tell us which version of the Flash plugin you have installed:

Peta,
My apologies for not replying earlier. I am forwarding this to someone on our team who might know more about this. If its a site specific bug, then we definitely need to understand it.

Inappropriate?Have you tried uninstalling Flash, and then re-installing it? I haven't used SlideShare, but I have seen problems with Flash between IE and FireFox where FireFox uses a different plug-in then IE, and the FireFox plug-in is upgraded independently.
I had a similar problem recently with some flash used on a Magento test site I was working on. I did a quick search on google and found out how to uninstall Flash... then reinstalled it and the flash componet on the Magento test site worked again.

If nothing else, it at least eliminates the possibility that IE's Flash Plugin isn't upgrading like it's suposed to or some problem with IE's Flash componet. -

Inappropriate? Many thanks Rashmi for following up. I have not uninstalled Flash and reinstalled it as mjohnsonperl suggested, but I have reinstalled Flash many times.
Would it be helpful to do that now, or wait for a response from the team.
I’m thankful

Inappropriate? It's not a slideshare problem - also found it happening on Flickr now that they have started video sharing. I have found a solution, but don't know what was causing the problem. I closed all programs, uninstalled Adobe Flash player and then reinstalled using the standalone installer.

Inappropriate?Hi, i have the same problem. I can't see the slides from slideshare, i see the "player", but keeps loading forever.
From some blogs i can see the embeded slides.
That annoy me because i use a lot slideshare.net, great site!
I forget to mention that i use Ubuntu 7.10 amd64, firefox and latest flash player 9.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?I've had this problem too with Safari 3.x and Firefox 3. My solution: Enable cookies for the slideshare site. It would be nice if it worked without being forced to enable cookies -- especially when it's working for embedded presentations...
I’m frustrated
