YouTube embed; Some play, some don't. Bug error enclosed.
I embedded 4 YouTube videos into a slideshow that I uploaded yesterday. The first video seems to render without issue. However, when I moved through my slideshow to the next video, the YouTube feature went into an endless load cycle...same for all three remaining embedded videos in that slideshow. I'm confident that I have the accurate video URL's in place.
Here's the bug report which popped up; "ReferenceError: Error #1056: Cannot create property __tweenLite_mc on net.slideshare.controller.Controller."
I tried in Chrome w/Windows XP and with IE-7 on same OS.
Here's the link to the slideshow on SlideShare.net; http://www.slideshare.net/medXcentral...
I hope this is an easy fix on your end. I have lot's more presentations to put together regarding my services and...I have also have a client who wants me to use this strategy for his service.
I'll be anxiously watching for your reply.

Inappropriate?yes, this is a bug we are looking into; hope to fix this soon .. stay tuned

Amit, I am quite shameful, but I cannot activate the Youtube embedding tool because I cannot find it. When I edit the presentation in slideshare, I do not find the tag! Senility moment of mine??? Please let me know how to activate the command. Kind regards and many thanks

stay tuned? When? -
Inappropriate?Any idea when? This is an important issue for me. I think the YouTube embed is a wonderful feature and I'd like to incorporate into a larger strategy. But, I need to be able to rely on it.
I have a major client awaiting my advice. Can you give more details?
I’m hopeful

No joke! When you fixing it. Why offer it if it doesn't work for anyone? I prepared a long slideshow to incorporate this feature, and come to find out, you've all been "working on it" for the past few months. -
Inappropriate?Yep Jim, I gave a keynote address at a conference last weekend, I have my presentation at http://www.slideshare.net/digger_boyl... and have exactly the same issue. I am looking for a fix too as it takes away from your presenatation. If Youtube is going to be part of slideshare, reliability is crucial for professionalism!
I too look forward to a fix!

I trust it will be fixed. But.. I need it now! :-) I was so enthusiastic about layering YouTube videos within my SlideShare.net presentations. I spent a lot of time creating the videos for the express purpose of using them in conjunction with SlideShare.
I still love what SlideShare does (and how they index so well with Google.) I just am anxious for them to fix this problem so we can count on the technology.
Like you said... we are accountable to our clients and audience regarding our professionalism. Our presentation must reflect that.
Hope Amit and his team get this fixed soon.

Inappropriate?Hi, this is sugandha, a developer at slideshare.
there are few scenarios when this problem comes. I assure you to get back with the fix soon.
For now, it will be best if you embed single youtube inside a slideshow.
In case you need multiple videos, a genuine advice is - be paitien!
let one video load properly ( i.e. let youtube embed show up )and then navigate further , next video should show up.
We are working on the fix while you manage with embedding single video :) -
Inappropriate?Sugandha... I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, no matter what I try, error message stops the second video from loading. That said, I trust you folks will fix it in the future.
Unfortunately, I can not wait. I will have to make something else the centerpiece of my presentations and will use SlideShare as a complement to other presentation programs.
Not a problem. I appreciate your free service. And, I love how SlideShare.net pages index on Google. I just wish I could build my presentation strategy around your service.
Thanks again.
I’m Optimistic

Inappropriate?Jim
Have your tried Voicethread? It is an online web2.0 technology that lets you upload your powerpoint and video all in the one slideshow. You can then narrate each slide. Then you can allow others to comment as well. I have gone to them instead of waiting for slideshare to sort it out.
An example of is at this address:

Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestion, Jim. I did the same thing. I'm not going to wait for slideshare to fix it, especially after they said it would be fixed soon (a month ago).

It's a real bummer...especially since SlideShare pages index very well with Google. Would be a powerful tool. -
Inappropriate?Jim,
I have been tracking this conversation. This is certainly delayed beyond our liking as well.
Actually we have now been able to track down the cause of this. The multiple video embeds in a slideshow breaking is because Youtube has made some changes in their APIs after we initially built this feature. We are totally dependant on what their APIs allow. It was earlier allowed, now it is blocked. This is not a problem in our code. We discovered this only after your complaint. And this is happening only if the multiple videos in a sldieshwos are all diff. If they are same, it still works. Try it out :))
Due to the YouTube change, we are having to almost rebuild this feature using an entirely different architecture. That is why this is taking this long. I wish I could give you an ETA, but I'd rather not.
Stay tuned. We'll announce on our blog when this gets fixed.

Amit... THAT is an explanation I can work with and respect. Thank you for being open and replying quickly. Great to hear that the delay is beyond your control. I do understand the challenges of API integration...at least enough to know that it is genuinely beyond your control.
Maybe you should just change your site to inform folks they can only embed one video (if you have not already done so.) Then, our expectations would be in line with the current capabilities of your YouTube integration. Embedding one video is still quite acceptable (IMHO.)
Glad I could bring this issue to your attention. Good luck with your re-integration with YouTube. -
Inappropriate?Quite pleased with Amit's reply above. I will likely use SlideShare and only embed one video. Was hoping they could fix quickly...but, now that I understand, I will revise some of my strategy. When SlideShare is confident about multiple video embeds, I will consider that ability at that time.
I’m in complete understanding with this issue now.

Inappropriate?Hey,
We are happy to inform that the problem with multiple videos has been fixed.
Multiple videos would play perfectly in your presentations now.
just check out our blog.http://blog.slideshare.net/2009/07/02...

THANK YOU!!!! It works!! -
Inappropriate?I've tested the fix without changing anything and it works!! Thank you so much for fixing the issue. Being able to place multiple videos within slideshows is very valuable.
I’m very satisfied!!
