In the preferences pane, there are observation settings, and they say "Fetch URLs and additional data from supported applications." What is this for, and what does it do?
Can Slife track activity times when the computer is switched off like OfficeTime?
The point is, some of my activities do not require a computer (like reading and annotating articles I have printed on paper), but are a very important part of my work. Initially I thought 'Activities' in Slife could time such work, but after the idle time, or if I put my computer to sleep, the timer stops. OfficeTime can track times though sleep periods by looking at the computer's clock.
Can Slife do this? If not, will it be possible in the future?
Personally, i love slife windows: but i feel like something is missing.
Slife is like an intricate timer, correct? I love that.
But: i wish there was a way to see how long you were on the computer today, how long your computer has been on, etc. It would be really nice to see a quick timer that has the number of hours:minutes you've been on the computer today, and not just how long you have been in each application/ Document.
There may be a way to already to do this, but it would be great if it was just in the sidebar, easy to glance at.
if there is a way to this already: could someone tell me how?
I would like to be able to say something like "When I am working in a document that is within the path /Users/John/awesome/project/ then attribute my time to the activity Awesome Project."
How do I assign applications and documents new icons? (if this is currently possible...)
(i.e. I use aquamacs, but in slife, it just shows up with the same icon as slife itself. I'd like to assign it something else, but I haven't been able to find out how to do so..?)
I would like to be able to drill a little into the data, or sort it. For instance, in the "web and documents" view, to see when I did something, I need to select a document and press the down arrow to see when it show up in the timeline (which I figured out by accident, by the way). It would be nice to select a time period in the time line and see a list of everything I did then. Or to be able to sort the items either by app or by time of day.
Also, having to click on everything in the day view is a real pain. It would be nice to have the bubbles be triggered by mouseovers instead of clicks. Also, clicking on a box (ie. app x time) could bring up a list on the right hand side of all events in that hour by that app.
Basically, it's the same issue as has been brought up before. It's very easy to get an overview, but there is no easy access to details.
I used slife 1 for tracking my time, but had to switch to slife 2 because firefox 3 and entourage 2008 weren't supported. As it is, I can't really use slife 2. I just keep it around in the hopes that I will be able to as it gets more features.
is there a way to match partial page titles in safari? For example I have bug tracking pages that are "#### - Mantis" where the #### is different areas in the mantis issue tracking and I would like to aggregate time spent in mantis and the #### is also dynamic as it might have an issue number in it. Fogbugz also has a fixed part of the title and a variable component. As does trac and other issue tracking systems that I have to use with clients
Is there any way to assign colours to activities and documents, rather than applications?
(Just to let you know, I think Slife is a great idea, and has a really nice implementation! In fact, I discovered it just after thinking that it'd be really useful to have a program that automatically tracked how I spent my time. That said, I think it would be a lot more useful if users were given greater ability to customize how data was presented, and how it is grouped.)
