Inappropriate? Was it the first time you were installing Slife? Did you use Slife before?
-
Inappropriate?I have the same problem, in my case it's the first time I install Slife.
I’m crossing my fingers for a solution
-
Inappropriate? In my case, it's *not* the 1st time. I had it running in the foreground before. But now that I turned on the background option, I can no longer access it.
-
no it does not help. it does NOT appear in the menu bar; therefore i have no access to slife. -
Inappropriate?@ethomaz: Unfortunately, it *doesn't* appear in the menu bar. Thus the problem...at least for me.

Inappropriate?I figured out a workaround. Quit Slife, if necessary, via Activity Monitor. Go to the user's Library/Preferences folder and delete the file com.slifelabs.slife.plist. Relaunch Slife and it'll show up, but all the previous preferences will be gone.
-
Inappropriate? If you actually open the com.slifelabs.slife.plist (just double-click - the Property Editor will come up), one of the keys in that file is called 'slifeVisible'. Change that setting and see if it helps.
This way, you don't have to get rid of the file and lose all of your preferences.
BTW, we are looking into this issue. For those of you having the problem, if you launch from a completely clean state (rename the com.slifelabs.slife.plist file AND the Slife folder at Your Home Directory/Library/Application Support), what happens? Does Slife launch normally and you can see it? What if you click on the Slife menu bar and choose the 'Hide Slife' item?
I’m confident
-
I can't find the com.slifelabs.slide.plist on my MAC. -
Inappropriate? For me, when I start from a "clean slate"...yes, Slife launches normally and I can see it. When I choose Hide Slife, it says it'll take place the next time I restart it. So I quit Slife and relaunch, and it doesn't show, but the menu bar still shows, and I can use that to make Slife show up.
-
This is the behavior that I would expect. -
Inappropriate?the same for me, the problems still there when you choose to hide the icon in the menu bar and run it in the background, then relaunch and you can't bring slife up again. But, editing the plist works fine for me, so now I have the icon in the menu and I can use Slife Again :)
I’m happy

I see. So the problem is when you hide the app and you don't have the Slife app icon in the menu bar. Got it. Thanks. -
Inappropriate? The switching between background mode and normal mode have bugs, as everyone said here.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Seems like the problem occurs when you put Slife in background mode while the Slife menu bar icon is disabled. Thanks for reporting this.
-
Inappropriate? This is actually the way I want it to run. (No dock, no menubar, no getting in my way.) But then when I want to check up on how I'm spending my time in a week or two in the Slife reports, I've gotta go digging in the preference file, as you say, to make the app visible again.
Obv the solution is to split Slife into an app that does the background activity and preference/visualization app. In the meantime, maybe an applescript or something should be issued for the less tech-ified? -
One of the issues with an app that doesn't have any UI presence whatsoever is that it can be used as spyware to some extent - and we don't want that at all. However, we are making some changes to our approach that will be to your liking I think!
