Inappropriate?Did you set any activities under "Preferences"?
-
Inappropriate?Yeup, I set three activities and three goals based on those activities.
-
Inappropriate? You shouldn't see any activities in the activities view until time has accrued against one of the activities.
Do you see anything there now? Perhaps the issue has to do with how you configured the activities? We are working on a guide, that we want to have completed very soon, that will clarify some of the points related to creating activities, etc. -
Inappropriate?I've yet to see anything in the activites, or goals, views. I've been using all the web pages in all three activities.
There's nothing there now. I did wonder if I'd done something wrong but I can't see what, it seems straight forward enough. I'll wait for the guide before doing anything else.
Thanks ethomaz. -
Inappropriate?Weird, I not long added a document, my first, to an activity and now its showing in activities and goals views. That would infer that it's just not showing web pages.
I’m puzzled
-
Inappropriate?Right now, Slife Windows is tracking window titles. So if you set an activity, you can't associate it with a web page URL - you have to associate it with a window title.
Maybe that will explain why some of your activities are working and some aren't. Anyways, we will have the guide soon!
I’m confident
-
Inappropriate?OK, makes sense, except, when it comes to Google Reader. Because the window title always shows the number of unread items. I don't fancy typing "Google Reader, Google Reader (1), Google Reader (2),.........Google Reader (595),..."
-
Inappropriate? What if you just type 'Google Reader'? It should work. The match doesn't have to be exact. As long as it's a substring of the window title, it should be fine.
-
Inappropriate?Apologies if this is slightly away from the main topic but i'm also having trouble with the windows version 2.0 (r9). I can open preferences, create activities and add window titles just fine yet when i click save, they disappear. Re-opening preferences just gives an empty list with no items.
Slife is also not picking up any other applications or uses, I presume this would be related? Wondering if this is more of a problem with the SQL than with Slife but figured it was similar enough to the original posters question to warrant space here.
I’m looking forward to this

Inappropriate? Can you tell me which system you are running? Vista? XP? Any service packs (SP2, SP3, etc)?
-
Inappropriate?Sorry, I'm on XP, service pack 2.
Going to try the same version at home on a service pack 3 machine to see if it works differently.
EDIT: Well, it's working perfectly fine on my home PC. Aside from the usual tin hat wearing IT overlords 'making all us employees safer', i'm not really sure there's much of a difference. If they were to have blocked port 2616 though, would that cause Slife to fail? -
Inappropriate? It seems like you were having trouble with storage of your data. Slife uses a small SQL database that gets installed. Perhaps in your work computer you didn't have enough privileges to have an app installed (in this case the SQL server)?
-
Inappropriate?I work with databases quite a lot, mostly in MS Access though. There aren't any conflicts with that are there? I'm able to install and run programs as administrator without any problems and i;ve used other time tracking programs that appear to have worked. I've not had to install a seperate database for those though so that is the most likely source of the problem.
As it works at home though (where i'm going to be doing the majority of my time tracking) it's not the end of the world, thanks again on porting it over to windows, fine piece of software!
I’m just happy that it works where i need it to
-
Inappropriate? No, there shouldn't be any conflicts with MS Access. I am not sure what the problem could be. Please let us know if you discover anything new!
