Could we not have an "Apply" button in preferences? It's a real pain having to open preferences every time to add stuff.

Inappropriate?Sure, we can add an Apply button.
But what kind of pain are you having? Having to go to Preferences to manage activities all the time?
I am just trying to understand the scenario - maybe we can make things even simpler!
