THD Last reply on July 04, 2008 17:27.

    Hi Chris,

I’ve been playing around with the new harmonic distortion graphs. Great feature.

    Questions :

    - When an IR is normalized, the distortion graphs do not follow the signal (H1). In order to check the difference in level between H1 and the others, I presume it is the non-normalized presentation that’s good?

    - I need to get a single number qualifier for distortion (or, at least, per distortion order). I realize THD is traditionaly measured out of a single frequency, but it does seem possible to get the ratio of the total level of added harmonics over the fundamental for the whole spectrum. We could use either averaged level or sum... Is this already implemented in any way in Fuzz? Anybody here knows if this is an officially developped technique for qualifiying THD?

    - How about adding the level of H2 and H3 to the export data so we could play with this by ourselves on a spreadsheet?

    - Any plan to add more harmonic orders?

v.3.1b1_FFT window size changes Rev Time Last reply on July 03, 2008 14:42.

    3.1b1 (3010.2.1)
This new version of the Rev plugin adjusts the calculated Rev time according to the FFT window size. It seems to me that the default window size ends up being to short for accurate rev time calculations; you have to make it longer manually until the Rev times stop changing. Am I getting it right? Could this be automatic?

Zoom out bug Last reply on July 03, 2008 14:24.

    3.1b1 (3010.2.1)
Zooming out in the time domain, you eventually loose the IR’s data (grey window) if you click fast. Revert zooming does not resolve (white window); you have to switch IR and come back to re-initialise the view.

Zoom rectangle Last reply on July 02, 2008 20:25.

    3.1b1 (3010.2.1)
Not necessarily a bug: just a small annoyance.
The new zoom rectangle feature is very sensitive; one sometimes end up in full zooming just because of a “sliding click” while using the zomm tool...
    Maybe a threshold?

Loopback on internal card Last reply on July 02, 2008 15:35.

Chris you told me earlier that loopback would now work for the MacBook Pro internal card. I'm using the latest rev but still having trouble. The loopback seems to work on channel 2 in that the before and after results in a dead straight line with correction turned on. The problem is that measurements on channel 1 no longer work unless I turn off device correction. I believe that all channels are connected properly.

FuzzMeasure 3.1b1 Posted Last reply on July 02, 2008 15:11.

I have posted the first public beta of FuzzMeasure 3.1 at the latest build page.

    http://www.supermegaultragroovy.com/p...

You'll notice that a lot of new features and fixes have been added, but there are a few more on my list that still need to get done. Also, I'm sure that you folks will find some bugs that I haven't found yet, or have yet to fix.

So, give it a shot and let me know how it goes!

Export a TF to import as Cal file? Last reply on July 02, 2008 12:06.

    Hi,

When exporting a frequency graph’s data as txt, the file as 2 columns, the 1st being frequency and the second, dB (starting on line 2, separated with commas, using “.” as decimal).

This file can be imported as a mic calibration file by Fuzz. Is this operation going to adequately subtract the first TF from any new measurement?

In other words, what, exactly, is the format for mic cal files, and can Fuzz generate such files...?

Can you recommend basic hardware kit for FuzzMeasure? Last reply on June 30, 2008 18:44.

Seeking recommendations for hardware to use FuzzMeasure with Macbook Pro -- microphones, adapters, etc. This is for audiophile home use, so I'd like to not spend $800 on a microphone.

What response smoothing algorithm is used in FuzzMeasure? Last reply on June 25, 2008 14:37.

I'd like to know what kind of algorithm is applied in 1/n-octave smoothing in frequency response graphs in FuzzMeasure?
We're using FuzzMeasure in our anechoic chamber measurements.

Problem Unzipping FuzzMeasure Package Last reply on June 24, 2008 13:46.

When I download the demo of FuzzMeasure I get an error that says,

"An error occured attempting to expand 'FuzzMeasure - 3.0.3.zip" Format error. Error #17540"

Which totally depresses me because A- I need this program, like, now. And B, I was planning on buying it too.

Meaning of the Harmonic Distortion plots in FuzzMeasure? Last reply on June 24, 2008 10:43.

Having seen that John Atkinson of Stereophile has used FuzzMeasure for real work, I downloaded a copy. Right now, I'm just playing - using a Radio Shack Clip-on Electret Condenser mic (my RS sound level meter has been borrowed..) into a Behringer FCA202 24/96 firewire A/D into my Leoparded Mac Pro. I'm measuring the Logitech Z4 speakers hooked up to the Mac (should be lots of artefacts...)

Question is - what does the Harmonic Distortion graph actually show? I see three traces...

Minimum phase? Last reply on June 13, 2008 19:32.

MacBookPro w/Leopard and M-audio fast track pro Last reply on June 07, 2008 00:45.

I cant get fuzzmeasure to properly recognize the maudio fast trackpro. I know it is wired correctly and functioning because the application 'signal scope' will properly use it-sending sweep through output 1 and also showing the waterfall plot captured by my microphone (Behringer ecm8000). however when i go to capture settings in fuzzmeasure, 'Playback settings' shows the device as fastrack pro but the channel cannot be selected-it is blank. 'Record settings' has a drop down list for items 1,2, or 3. whatever that is. Clicking the 'configure' button on the dialog brings up the audio midi setup preferences. default input, output and system output each include two choices for fast track pro. the properties drop down list has two choices for fast track pro. not much can be changed here except the format and i set it for 44khz.

Has anyone successfully used the m-audio fast track pro with fuzzmeasure?

Splicing plots? Can it be done? Last reply on May 28, 2008 18:37.

I'm looking for a way to splice plots in FuzzMeasure. It would be nice to take my farfield, nearfield and port measurements (if applicable) and splice them together. Maybe I've just overlooked it –which is very likely– but that's the latest feature I've found I needed recently. Overall though I've been churning out some really nice measurements with FM lately.

Is it to be measured possibly condensers? Last reply on May 28, 2008 07:55.

    Hello,

I have bought the program and am very contented.
It is very good that I can also measure loudspeaker.
Is it to be measured possibly condensers?
Distortion, Frequency Responnse and resonances interests me.

    Please, use simple words.
    My English is very bad.
For the translation I use software.

    Many greetings from Heiko

Any plans to implement C50 in Fuzz? Last reply on May 26, 2008 14:25.

    Hi Chris,

Since you already have EDT and T as per ISO 3382, would you consider adding C50, C80 and D50 measurements? That would be great for acousticians (or anyone with a room where intelligibility is an issue)! Maybe in the form of a plugin that could be sold separately...

v3 : Markers in Impulse graph have a weird behaviour (bug) Last reply on May 26, 2008 14:07.

While markers work A-1 in the frequency graph, they’re almost unusable in the impulse graph. Once created, you get stuck with the pointer as a close hand, and anything you try to do from there seems to be kind of one click late... Moving the markers’ position is very difficult, so is removing it.
