How about tapedeck iphone?
Tapedeck seems cool, but i dont use my macbook that much now i have an iphone, plus my iphone is with me all the time. A tapedeck app on there would be very cool! Yeah we already have voice recorders, but tapedeck is so much cooler, and the upload to youtube would be great!
no line in recording? I bought tapedeck in order to record my serato mixes in the club. but how do I record them? there's no possibility in the preferences to switch to line-in. does it record through the macbook mic or what?
It would be nice to have the ability to have separate library of tapes similar to the Apple's iPhoto allows the creation of multiple libraries. This would allow separate collections of tapes for different subjects.
Personally, I would like to have a library for a private audio journal (password protected), and a separate library for other subjects.
I have found that I can create separate folders for different subjects, but having to go into the preferences is a bit cumbersome. It would be much easier to have a button or drop-down menu from which to choose a different library or folder.
I'd like to see a Tape Eject button. I find the interface confusing in getting tapes out of the recorder and into the Tape box. The one currently in the machine goes into the box when I start a new recording. Or after conducting a search. I remember these old machines having a Tape eject button, it would make it so much easier. I'll still buy it though. Nice job.
I use TapeDeck to record live internet radio streams, and I love the fact that I can move the tapes to my iPod for future listening. But there's one thing about the process I simply don't understand: in order for TapeDeck to grab the stream, I have to open System Preferences and switch to Soundflower as my output device. But when I do that, it cuts out the speakers, so I can't listen to the stream while I'm recording it. Is there any way around this?
I have a macbook pro-i'm green behind the ears here with this audio stuff, but here's my dilemma: I have a 2007 Macbook pro-version 10.4.11. You state that this application needs 10.5 or better. What do I need to do. What I'm wanting to do is record into this tape deck, and load into my ipod, my own voice. Is this possible with this application. This appears to be what I need. Thanks so much. susan
How about a way to drop an index marker while recording so that later it would be possible to jump to a marked location? Being able to add a comment and tags would be a great bonus. These could perhaps be stored in the metadata of the file containing a recording.
do you intend to make it capable of recording in broadcast wave? Although its used for scratch ideas, the idea of using MP3 as the format doesn't sit so well with me, since a lot of scratch ideas I write end up getting used in final versions....but i LOVE the way the program works....any thoughts on if this will be a part of it soon?
Thanks for having this open discussion about your product. This is certainly going to be a trend for the future of technology.
I have downloaded the demo. In the full version are there any editing functions provided? ie trim beginning and/or end of recordings before sending to itunes?
As far for the input/microphone it is clear that one can/shall use a xlr balanced connector! Standard mic xlr cable.
Concerning the output I have open questions, the headphone minijack is unbalanced and therefore a stereo minijack-rca connector will do the job (both are unbalanced connections).
But what to do I one want to use the monitor outputs, they are balanced 6.3mm jacks eauch L+R.
Is it possible to use mono 6.3mm jack cable with a RCA mono connector (both unbalanced). This would mean to short circuit the negative"cold" ring and the sleve containing the ground! Seealso "http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRS_connector"
I'm asking this since I can't find a balanced 6.3mm jack rca adaptor and a don't want to damage the unit or something in my system!
Today we released TapeDeck 1.1 to the public. It's a free upgrade for all existing users, and it contains a handful of features and fixes that we're sure you'll enjoy.
Here is the official set of release notes:
Upload to YouTube option for easily sharing recordings with friends/family
TapeDeck can import and export audio in various formats supported by QuickTime
Renaming a tape that's stopped at the end should no longer cause it to be unplayable until the next selection was made
There is no more slowdown due to battery during the evaluation period
Users can now seek/play/review while buttons are held down, just like some real tape recorders
Reviewing a tape to the beginning no longer causes the playhead to appear at the end of the tape
Commands that are disabled during recording are now reflected as disabled in the menu
Users can no longer delete an in-progress recording
The window may no longer be dragged by the buttons used to disclose the tape drawer
A custom folder icon is used when creating the TapeDeck library directory
The 'tape does not exist' message should no longer show up when deleting a tape that has been recently renamed
Acknowledgements now appear in the about box
Recordings are now done in much higher quality, with HQ now at 320kbps
real tape decks can be paused during record and continue recording when "un"paused on the same tape (file). Also when making a mistake in say recording a spoken book, you can stop the recording, rewind, start playing and listen where to hit record again WITHOUT making a new recording (read file). This feature would save me hours of editing time I'm having to do now with new, modern, state of the art digital stuff but never with my old analog tape recorder. Now there's a challenge for you! it would be the first programme that could do that trick.
I know this is a ridiculously basic question, but how do you insert a new, blank tape? I would expect to see a "New Tape" menu item under the File menu, but I don't. What am I missing?
I am surprised nobody asked this yet. I've bought TapeDeck mainly to record from old tapes. I do that on a remote iMac and I have to be careful to remember to stop recording as there is no way (yet, I hope) to trim unwanted portions.
