Can't title tapes
When I click the title of a tape, the text turns black and the shadowy border pops up, but it doesn't get selected and I can't edit anything, nor can I make the border go away without switching tapes.

Inappropriate?What if you click on the text of the tape to select it yourself? Is there anything printed in the console log when you attempt this?
It works fine on my end, but that really doesn't help your situation... :P

Inappropriate?It's a 2.2 GHz MacBook Pro (mid-2007) with 4 GB RAM, running OS X 10.5.2.
I also tried trashing the prefs file and restarting my computer. -
Inappropriate?Do you have any input managers enabled or use any apps that rely on 'access for assistive devices' in the Universal Access settings in System Preferences to be enabled?
Forgive my seemingly random line of questioning, but I'm drawing at straws in the dark here—it's the first I've heard of this problem. -
Inappropriate?Access for assistive devices is off. I have Saft and 1Password installed in ~/Library/InputManagers.

It sounds as if the text entry field is just not working at all for you—does text entry in the search field work fine in TapeDeck? -
