Inappropriate? It's not possible in TapeDeck, as far as I know. Sure, you can put your mic up to one of your speakers, but as for computer audio, it's not supported yet.
I'm pretty sure it will be in a future release. Fingers crossed. -
Inappropriate? It is possible, but you'll need additional software to route the raw audio output from your internet radio to TapeDeck's input. I'd recommend Soundflower: http://www.cycling74.com/products/sou...
Follow the instructions on the Cycling '74 website for applications that do not allow you to select audio devices. That is, set your default output device (in the Sound prefPane) to be Soundflower, and your default input device to also be Soundflower.
We intend to write up some step-by-step documentation on this, since I expect it to be a common request (e.g. using TapeDeck to record Skype/iChat calls, streaming audio, and so forth). -
Inappropriate?Wouldn't a more useful solution be self contained? ScreenFlow, as an example can record computer audio without the need of another program.
This would also make the whole process easier. -
Inappropriate? As much as I love TapeDeck's interface, the ability to record live lectures or from an external source doesn't interest me in the least. What would have excited me is applying this interface to the recording of a stream of internet radio.
From a marketing perspective, I know it's not wise to project my own wants and needs on the universe of potential users, so I won't. But in my community of Mac users, I don't know a single person who did anything more than shrug their shoulders when I asked them if they were interested in recording live lectures or from an external source. The responses changed 180 degrees when I asked them about recording a live radio stream.
TapeDeck is a great, great product that, to me, is tragically flawed. I'd really rather not have to get a second piece of software (and figure out how to use it) in order to accommodate the killer feature TapeDeck should have included in the first place.
