How do I allow Google Adsense to crawl pages behind a login?
Hi there:
I need help figuring out what information to provide Google to allow it to crawl inside my site (behind my registration) so that the advertising I'm posting on my site is more targeted to the content on the interior pages. I took a screenshot of the Google Site Authentication page and could use help determining what to put in these boxes:
Restricted Directory or URL: (e.g. https://www.example.com/members)
Authentication URL: (e.g. https://www.example.com/auth.cgi)
Authentication method: (Options: POST, GET, or Plain Http (.htaccess)
Parameters:
- Attribute: - Value
- Attribute: - Value
- Attribute: - Value

same thing for password
you are basically telling google what to fill in the sign in box -

Yes, I figured out the attribute/value part... I just need to know the authentication URL and the authentication method. I tried several different options and it didn't work.

Hi Ryan: I checked out the API, and unfortunately I'm not a developer... so it was hard to find the answer to my original question. But I did pick out a few more tidbits of information to try the following in Google's site authentication page:
Restricted Directory or URL: http://www.sdlusers.com/home.html
Authentication URL: http://www.sdlusers.com/user/auth/ind...
Authentication method: GET
Attribute 1: id/email
Value 1: << my email >>
Attribute 2: password
Value 2: << my password >>
But it still didn't work.. at least not that I can tell.
And to answer your question about WHY I'm doing this... I need to let the Google spiders into the restricted pages of my socialgo site so they can crawl them to determine what content each page has... in order to serve up more targeted ads. Right now, my site is only serving up ads based on the meta data and content I put on the external pages.. which is good, but Google Adsense can do much better... especially because the content of my interior pages is richer and deeper.
I noticed Ross' e mail address in the API... do you think I should just ping him directly about this question? -

I've never been able to get Google Webmaster tools to work, as reported in an earlier posting. Alex was going to look into this, and then the Ning tsunami hit. -

I have created two sites on blogger.com, I entered one site say sourcesolution.blogspot.com in Restricted Directory or URL and entered another site technologydefination.blogspot.com in Authentication URL and all other field filled as James wrote than save the work now the status of authuntication is ok.
