Suggestions For Member Levels
Hey, I had a few ideas that would be great to see implemented with user levels
- Allow restriction by level in the other direction as well. Example given, instead of only allowing a user of level "moderator" to see the "events" tab, allow everyone except people in the group "Standard User", which would allow say, a moderator to add an event, but not a standard user.
- Provide the option in the levels sub-tab of Manage Members to restrict that member from doing certain actions, e.g. publish to the magazine, upload video, et cetera.
- Types of moderators: blog mod, forum mod, even the ability to set a user to only be able to edit a certain page/tab, CMS style.
- Restrict access to sub-tabs for users. This would be really useful if you want to open up a tab for everyone to see but don't want them to access certain content on that page.

The company has this under consideration.

Inappropriate? Also would be great to have specific users be able to have access to the back-end to edit content. For example, more than one web designer!
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?Hey Guys,
The member level feature is pretty new and we are delighted to get this sort of feedback. We are currently mapping out our priorities for the next couple of months so this helps!
Cheers

Inappropriate? Thanks for the reply, Alex. We really appreciate the increasing control over our network (as compared to the decreasing control on Ning) and look forward to brilliant releases I'm sure are in store over the next few months.

Inappropriate?Another suggestion for member levels would be creating the ability for us to restrict whether people can join groups or not based on their user level. For example, we'd like to use our network as a place where our coordinators and their coworkers in different cities could have a central location to access downloads and collaborate, as well as enjoying each other's company, but we don't want regular members to be able to do this. We can use groups for this, but we can't control who joins groups by user level, unless it is by invite.
I guess it would be good to only display certain groups to a designated user level.

this is one of the best points

Inappropriate? On that note, it would also be good to be able to control member access to forums based on their level...

Inappropriate? This would be VERY helpful :
