The ability to add MySpace skins on profiles would be great.
It would be great if profiles were more customizable. I think members like their individuality. Please consider the ability for members to add MySpace skins.

Inappropriate? Thanks for the suggestion - we are thinking about the ability to move profile blocks around, and for changing colours, however this is not currently planned for a deploy in the near future!

Yet again ... sometime whenever ... never - when are SG actually going to commit to a date / timescale on anything??? -
As an addendum to that - how about if we said that SG should be FREE for all features UNTIL SG is 100% Completed and done! Then the playing field would be level - right now we are expected to ay for something thats not even 50% completed! -

Inappropriate?Yeah, customizable profiles, doesn't even have to be a lot, but this would be great so users can add content, change the profile colors.. make it their home.
Even if they just had a couple of place to add custom html, it would make a big difference.. -
Inappropriate?Yup we agree guys, rest assured we'll be looking at this but it's not here just yet...
-
yes also they should be able to do this or even have a choice to add HTML as you can see this is something i and my members on my website really want this would also be good because they would have the choice to choose to have themes for there account or put there own layout but administrators should have the choice to either let members have the themes for there profile or let them choose there own layout from a 3 party website or administrators can choose not to have any at all but this really should come into development soon!! -
Inappropriate? You can use myspace layouts on your network, I don't know if the members can but I made my own for the whole network. In your "admin" go to " Ads & Custom HTML " and add the code in one of them, I have mine in the " Body data " my network url is starsandstitches.info if you want to look.
I’m confident

nah, members cannot do this.. -
No bad idea. -

Yeah, if you guys made your custom themes available for the profiles, that would be great! And it does seem like it should be easier then allowing for anyone just to start writing in their own HTML.... -
I agree with sojan and shy Mastsi This is a great idea -
Inappropriate? One thing I think would be good is if people could submit layouts and it would save it just like the temples. Than a network could have more layouts and it would be easer for people to pick layouts.

Inappropriate?hey b t w what do you guys think about site themes ?
themes for whole site...cause different members like different colours and stuff... so if there was alleast 4 or 5 site themes..they could have easily choose there favourits...
and if would be great if administarors can also develope site themes.... using the netwok styler and bit css ourselves :)
b t w ...any one know ...do sg support progessive jpgs ?? especially as avatars?
I’m thinking whether is this idea any good ??
-
Inappropriate?More customisation in terms of profile customisation/skins/themes is definitely something that we'll consider, however there are lots of other things that we will are working on first. Rest assured we don't forget your valuable feedback and suggestions guys!
Progressive jpegs are fine with SG yup! -
Inappropriate? This is a great idea.Allot of my members want to fix their pages up the way they want.Hope you guys give us some new features soon.We are waitng and waiting.
-
Inappropriate?Groups and Events should also be included in this.

I would love groups to have this option too :) -
Inappropriate?I personally don't like this idea. I remember people trying to use those MySpace skins on Ning and some members got real crazy with it. A lot of those pages were real hard to read because people did not know what color text to use with their backgrounds. I had to click and drag my mouse to highlight the page just to read them most of the time. Some of those backgrounds are so busy, no matter what color text you use, it's still hard to read.
The only option was to disable the whole network from using it or enable the whole network to use it. If SocialGo/Zocku decide to go with the idea, please allow the network owner to disable certain users from doing it without having to punish the whole network.
For some, when you give them too many options, they make some really poor choices. I had to disable that feature on my networks.
And then people started putting their own html codes and flash codes on their page and then they not only had a hard to read page, but they also had a page that took 10 minutes to load on a high speed connection. When I complained to the users that did it, they seemed to care less. Their response was upgrade your computer or upgrade your connection. Some even told me to buy a new computer every 6 months to keep up with their pages. They didn't care less about how others felt.
I assumed they wanted other people to view & read their pages. I came to the conclusion that that's not always the case.
I’m frustrated
-
Those are good points. Maybe limiting what members can actually do, like giving theme and background image options.. but not coding options.. -
Inappropriate? We have a user layout widget coming out shortly that will allow (with Site owner's permission) members on a site to have a very easy desktop application for creating custom layouts and themes for their own member profile page.
Having said that, we agree that the ability for site owner to disable this is critical in some cases, on some sites, so this will be integral to the application.
Cheers!

When might this user layout widget be available? It's a great idea on ADMIN control. -
Inappropriate?I feel ya, I think letting users embed in a profile html box will give them enough room to add things without ruining the design of a site.
-
Inappropriate?I was on ning and i had 500 members and they loved it thta they could fix their page up.It show their personalities.I think we all like that power within reason.Give them enough the members to fix their page. Also they like adding music players to their sites.Like all sites i know there are bugs that need to work out.I also know that allot of people are waiting for this feature .It does make mkore people want to join a site.Everyone loves to get creative.
-
Inappropriate?Hey Jen,
Totally agree with where you're coming from, giving members more control over their own pages etc, and the design aspect of that is definitely something we're very aware that many of our users would like.
Just so you know, members of your network can already upload MP3s to a music player on their individual profile.

Inappropriate?any updates n profile themes or site skins ??
the idea used at widgetlaborator is cool.using javascript... but loading many stylesheet cause slow page loadingi think...
so hope sg do soemthing... -
Inappropriate? This is a great Idea and it is one of the few things that myspace has that we do not. But I am confident that you are doing your best to make this idea a reality for all your customers.

Inappropriate?I like the new profile designer, its fairly easy and simple to use. Unless I am missing something, is there a way members can "reset" their designs back to the network default?
I also agree concur with Shawn about limiting the use of myspace skins and TOO much html profile customization - people do go overboard with it.
I would like to see the option for members to AT LEAST be able to customize the "ABOUT" box. On my other SaaS neywork, members can embed video or audio players from other sources. (Playlist.com, youtube, myfabrik.com etc). -
Inappropriate? In regards to Dingo & Shawn's suggestion about limiting HTML and/or CSS customisation options, when this is implemented, would it be possible to have it controllable by the network admin, in the same way that you can control which elements of a page members can customise through the profile designer?
