Is SocialMedian passing my email address onto spammers?
What is going on here?
I use Google Apps for my email with my own domain, which means that I can use a custom email address for every site I register with - so that I can tell very quickly who has passed my email address on. For example, my email address on socialmedian is socialmedian@mydomain.com. I received a piece of spam today: the 'to' part of the message was blocked in the normal view (the 'to' field in Gmail displaying nothing), but this is what I got when I viewed the original message:

I have NEVER given this email address out to anyone else, and I always specifically tell websites not to share my email address with any 3rd party agencies. Can someone from socialmedian please explain this?

Inappropriate?Apologies.
Here is the situation. Last week we had an unfortunate bug in which your email could be seen in the HTML source in a certain scenario on one of our pages. Most likely, some email sniffing script/bot would have got this email address and now is sending spam on this email. The bug has been fixed but in this case the spammer already has your email address.
It would be best for you to:
a. Set your gmail filters to mark all mails sent to this
socialmedian email address of yours as spam.
b. change your email address that you use for socialmedian under our "Settings" tab.
Very sorry about this. We believe we have fixed the bug. If any other users are encountering the same, please let us know ASAP.
