The API is too busy, not good for prototyping
Looks like your API is crumbling. I'd say 29 out of 30 requests return "The API is too busy at the moment, try again later."

Inappropriate?The public API has been heavily abused recently and we are taking measures to ensure it uptime. However, we have limited resources and cannot provide everyone access all the time.
Access should be better now though. -

Thanks for the quick response, and I totally understand. I've noticed you've added a "You are making too making requests. Please slow down." message. Can I ask how long I should wait between requests? I can then put a timer into my protptype app, letting the user know when it's safe to do another search.

Inappropriate?You have to wait at least 2 mins in between queries, however, if you make a lot of queries consistently your IP will get black listed.
The public API is very much for casual usage in feed readers and some basic testing - not as a full-time data engine for applications (or even prototypes).
Please wait at least 2 mins in between requests and keep the amount of queries to below 100/day. -

first off, let me say, very cool tool, and i've featured it in some of my presentations (and both the ones archived on slideshare @tonyfelice).
Anyhow, I'd written a client, and i thought that i was very very kind in my demo requests, but it seems that I must be blacklisted. I did not see anything more than 'coming soon' in the TOS at google code, but still I was very minimal in my requests. I'm currently at 70.167.125.62, and only getting "You are making too making requests. Please slow down." despite waiting 24h to return.
Is there anything we could work out? I'd really just like to be able to demonstrate a POC at this point.

Thanks so much for the nice comments!! I'd be happy to white list your IP, however:
I checked and your IP is not blacklisted. The only way you can receive the error: "You are making too making requests. Please slow down."
... is if you make requests more frequent then 1 request every 1.5mins. I just tested and confirmed it.
Are you by chance getting this error:
"The API is too busy at the moment, try again later."
