socialthing! Beta Release

I have several friends who have accounts on multiple web applications (Facebook, Flickr etc). However, on my lifestream, my friends' updates get split up, so all their different updates are split up.

As people may use different email addresses for different services, I don't think that you could auto-detect for it - but perhaps you could have a set of options underneath the user photo so users could manually link them?

That way, if you didn't hide the usernames, people could use it as a sorting mechanism (eg, friends, family, colleagues, etc)

I'm sure I'm probably jumping ahead, but if Socialthing had a widget like Twhirl, I would be as happy as a puppy.

I think it would be even more useful if socialthing included a complete facebook feed (like wall postings and such) instead of just status updates and new photos.

the ability to remove an update once it has been read. like marking an email read. maybe with the use of an "x" icon on the right-hand side of the notice???

Make the "view lifestream by user" collapsible by friend. I like the "more" and "less" clicks below each friend with more than 4 updates but how about being able to collapse a specific friend's stream entirely?

The lifestream gets really cumbersome when you happen to follow many people on many networks.

Great product, but if I fall behind even a day, there's no way to paginate to view older items in my lifestream. Ideally I want simple pagination to view my history going back forever - and make it searchable of course....

I'd love to see more indication that a person is about to be taken from ST to GS. Right now it's a tab that says Feedback, which is confusing because I expect to stay on the site. Right now a tab is confusing...maybe if GS is integrated in the future it will make more sense. In the meantime, making it a button or something that indicates that it's going to act different will clue people in before they make the big leap. A logo, or wording like "Give feedback at Get Satisfaction" could help too. Not to sound like I want to spread our branding! We've been surprised at how many other companies had requested that we make our branding more apparent on our widgets for just this reason...it's a hint for where a link is going to go.

I've been going through my LifeStream with the iPhone/iPod Touch interface - would be great if when you clicked on an individual picture in an update it went to the iPhone interface on Facebook to show the picture rather than the desktop interface. Same would be good with the Flickr pictures - could use the Y!Go Flickr interface instead.
