fixed width?
Wouldn't it be nice if you could choose if you want to view the page with a 100% width or a fixed width of for example 800px?

The company has no plans to do this.

Here's a good chance for me to explain why we have to do this fixed width. We simply don't let you scale your window down past a certain amount (I think it's around 740px). This is because we use tables for our images. I know, I know, tables are terrible, BUT...there's not an easy way for us to organize Facebook photos without tables because the thumbnails are not perfect squares.
We use the table cells to center the images both horizontally and vertically...this allows for a much better looking group of images.
Because we have to use a table to accomplish this, we've got an element potentially in the design that will break everything if the window is scaled down past a certain point. So we had a simple solution: add a min-width to prevent the design breaking because of a set of images.
Make sense?
