How would I delete my account?
There's nothing in particular that's wrong with socialthing, it's just a bit young and buggy and not really for me.
How would I go about deleting my account? I can't seem to find anything that would let me do this -- I know you guys are probably worked off your asses but this is a bit of an oversight =).

Inappropriate? We haven't opened this up as an option yet...was a bit of an oversight, but we'll try to get it in there really soon.

Get over yourself. When AOL makes you an offer, let us know. -
Inappropriate?Agreed. I'd really like to see this implemented ASAP.
I’m upset that this still hasn't been done
-
Inappropriate? Please give us this option or a feedback mechanism for doing so. No offense, liked the service alright... but not happy with the AOL acquisition.

I’m noxious
-
zomg a bigger company owning a smaller one whatever will we do, that's why i don't use gmail i have to use a small and independent webmail company because hey while it may be down 99% of the time they're not owned by a huge corporation and i can be angsty as i like and not get noxious -
Just because you love SocialThing enough to not care who owns it, doesn't mean everyone has to agree with you. Besides, delete should always be an option regardless of your reason for wanting to do so. -
Then say so, instead of leaving angsty emotions like "I'm noxious" say "I disagree with the policies of the parent company which will soon be applied to the child company and therefore I would like to close my account as per the TOS" or something, something that has merit. Plurk also doesn't have a delete account option, so you might not want to sign up there. In fact, I have no idea if GSFN has one such option, I think you have to ask as well for this website :-/ -
I think your reaction is more ridiculous than my typing "noxious" in the cute little smiley box. I use that for amusement/humor mostly when I leave support requests. And in this case, the humor was directed at the audience that might agree with such a view in light of news of aquisition. The body of my post was perfectly sane and non-angsty. I expressed the desire for this feature (though it should not have to be a feature!) and dropped a hint to as to my reason. There are no exit interviews in Web2.0 and I felt like leaving a clue for their benefit. So please stop trolling GS for people you assume to be idiots to flame.
And for the record:
Plurk DOES have a delete option.
as does GS (via a help topic and thread). -
I was not aware the status changed, see this thread: http://getsatisfaction.com/plurk/topi... - And I'm not calling you an idiot, I just see a rash of people leaving a service whenever a bigger company purchases it, like what happened when Flickr got purchased by Yahoo!. The whole thing feels like fans of a band not liking it anymore if they are in any way successful and no longer "indie", who actually somehow oppose that something or someone they like is doing well. That's the attitude that bothers me, sorry for having offended you by noticing it. -
Don't know what to say except don't believe everything you read on here. -
I'd like to make amends. I can understand how the "jumping ship" can get old. And I don't object to every large company that purchases a service I use... but there are some I try to avoid more than others, and I'm by no means consistent, I only take action if it really gets noticed, and this time, I caught the news right away. Was only on ST to investigate and honestly enjoy FriendFeed more. So no loss in dropping this one. Or one would have thought until I realized a delete mechanism has not been added yet. Sorry for taking the defensive and ST is still a cool service, just not for me anymore. -
Honestly, I agree, FriendFeed is better because I can't figure out how to post to Twitter from SocialThing! (except in reply to other tweets), and whether the feature is there or not is irrelevant, it is simply too hard to find. I suppose you could use the method mentioned earlier of contacting them directly and asking? -
Inappropriate? If you didn't realize that there wasn't a delete option then the person who wasn't thinking was you. Try taking some responsibility for the decisions that you make. Maybe next time you should take a look at what you are getting involved in, ask questions, then make an EDUCATED decision.
As for being socialthing being young and buggy............
when was the last time anyone wanted to aquire anything from you-
besides the time of day! -
Easy there, buick. Point taken. -
Inappropriate?FYI there is an option to remove now. I did it. It's still letting me log in though... perhaps i'm in a list that has to be processed.
I’m happy
-
Inappropriate?I try to delete my account but it don't works.
I mean : I click on "delete my account", I write the code and click on the button, but it don't do anything. I can continue to log in socialthing...
I’m frustrated
