i don't know what to do with my lifestream
ok, cool, i can see stuff happening across sites. this is the feature that facebook and bebo and myspace have, but across sites. neat, that's fun. however, you don't give me anything to DO with my lifestream. am i supposed to sit here and look at it? does it auto-refresh? is it widgetized? can i share it, redistribute it, subscribe to it, or publish it? give me a clue in the UI what I'm supposed to do next, after looking at this page.

I'm all over it. I'm recording a screen cast to show everyone how to "group" a person's separate identities on each service into one itdentity.
Example: on Last.fm i am identified as defiradio, on Twitter i am briandewitt, on YouTube i am briandewittst, etc. So clicking the little rename link next to my service usernames one can rename those to Brian or Brian DeWitt or Chief PoopyPants - whatever a friend of mine would like to identify me as.

Thats the first step certainly. As we explained in the invite email we are going to add some features in the coming weeks that let you do something with that info. For now you can click on a persons name and rename them. So for example, Matt's identity on last.fm, digg and twitter i clicked "rename this person" and renamed those identities Matt Galligan. Now that person is grouped.
The content we display is linked back to those services so you can react to those instances where they occurred

Inappropriate?I think it's neat so far. Adding a simple auto-refresh feature would make the overall first impression a lot better for other incoming beta testers.
-
Inappropriate?Agreed re: simple autorefresh. Also, I'm not a huge fan of over-emailing the users but in a future email (or for future releases of beta invitations) you should be clearer about what you see right now (i.e., lifestream) and what you can do (group people) vs. what's coming (even if it's vague.) My first reaction was "this lifestream is cool, but what the heck else can I do?)
Also, clicking on the "socialthing" logo gives me a 403 error page. -

Inappropriate?Yeah, more than anything, I'd like for there to be an RSS feed or something that people can subscribe to to keep up with me.
I’m thankful
