Inappropriate?This is probably because you're using some sort of program like Twhirl or Twitteriffic and it's calling them a lot as it is. Using them in conjunction means you need to turn down your refresh rate of your desktop app, unfortunately...

Inappropriate?Please also note, that even if you aren't actively using them, desktop applications that interface with Twitter still update in the background, so unless they are closed out, they will still eat up some part of your 70 requests per hour that Twitter allots you.
