Use ping.fm to post rather than Socialthing!
Can I use ping.fm to do my posting, instead of Socialthing!?
ping.fm covers way more websites, and also it means less hassle on Socialthing!'s servers. So everyone wins!
What does anyone think? Is this a winner?

Inappropriate? We've been working on this for a little while now and the guys over at Ping.fm have been great working with us. Expect the implementation soon!
I’m excited

Inappropriate?Wow, that's great news -- Ping is an excellent service.

I agree. ( http://tinyurl.com/6o4lym) -
Inappropriate?I am so excited to hear about this. I mentioned the idea in a ping.fm chat room, and [crickets]. I guess they were already on it. You guys really know what's up.
I’m angry that I can't make this smile any bigger.

It's in! The colors, deletion, & account merging is awesome, too. Wow guys... very well done. -
Inappropriate? There's one problem, the iPhone interface can't seem to follow through with the Ping.fm updates. I just get an error and it tells me to resend.
I keep trying to no avail.
I’m still happy with the implementation!
-
Yeah, we noticed this right after we deployed. We are working on a UI for the iPhone. -
It's now telling me to resend but actually posting my update. It's confusing to say the least. -
I have the same problem -
Inappropriate?Another thing, when updating with just the Ping.fm service ST! doesn't show the 140 character count anymore. It would be handy to still show it but not stop the text box at 140 characters like when posting to Twitter or Pownce.
Sorry for all the replies, I'm discovering each thing JUST after the 15 minute edit time.
I’m silly

Inappropriate?Well, I *love* like the idea - however, I now feel that the options for some services should be redefined.
When I hit 'Post', all my services are selected - say, Twitter and Ping.fm. But since I also want to have my Twitter account on Ping.fm, I would end with a double post.
I think services that allow you to post updates should now have an option to disable the post feature for that specific service.
(Am I making any sense?)
I’m silly

The thing is, you don't end up with a double post. If you have Ping.fm selected you would see all the services lined up underneath to be sent to. Now if you have Twitter selected as well as Ping.fm, you will notice that Twitter is removed from the services lined up.
It's already smart enough, there is no double posting. -
Indeed, my bad! :) I did noticed the Jaiku icon underneath the Ping.fm dropdown - but I didn't really noticed Twitter wasn't shown because of that. Thanks a lot! -
Glad to have it sorted out. -
Inappropriate?I'm liking the ping.fm implementation, however I've got the "Adjust Grammar" setting enabled on ping.fm which isn't being picked up on by the socialthing routine that folds together duplicates, so for example spotting that "is testing ping.fm" and "Richard is testing ping.fm" are the same update.

I have mentioned this already, unfortunately it hasn't been followed much. http://bit.ly/20e7XF
