It'd be great if I could automatically block spam accounts that follow me, as opposed to the current option of just automatically not following them back.
It'd be better still if these spammers could be identified based on following/follower ratio and topics that they tweet on as well as by presence on the blacklist.
I had been thinking about an automated method for sifting out most of the spammers.
Here is what I see (not sure if it's prohibitive due to too many API calls somehow):
1) Let the user enter threshold values for the 3 values used below,
as well as possible exclusion keywords (e.g. "liberal", "conservative", "God", etc.)
to check against the bio text.
2) For each new follower, fetch their extended info (1 call, no?), parse the XML,
and then do the following checks on it
foreach ($exclusion_word as $ew) { if (preg_match('!$ew!', $biotext)) $exclusion=1; }
3) if OR $exclusion=1
// people don't follow them back
OR friends / followers > 2 (default, your user can adjust to his/her liking)
// they have few updates, as well as 10 x the followers than updates, -> "spammy"
OR (updates < 50 AND followers / updates > 10)
THEN - Do NOT follow (i.e. "continue"), and possibly put them in a "quarantine" email
for the manual processing you just developed.
Your site sucks. Worst survey site I've ever seen. Fix all your damn stupid pop ups and get a solid look and feel. It's pathetic that people actually use this site but if they're going to then you better step up and give them quality design.
I can't get the facebook code to come up when I click the link from my admin tab. How am I supposed to link Socialtoo to my FB if I can't get the code it asks for?
According to the follow and unfollow stats that I have been recieving from socialtoo email I should have close to 2000 followers but that is not the case on twitter account. Also, I can't follow any of those following me from the email.
I recently registered with SocialToo to try it out. I tried to set up my profile so that people that unfollow me within 10 days after following get unfollowed. But when I hit submit the radio button always jumps back to the topmost option (unfollow everybody that unfollows me).
Also it seems that I don't get the correct stats in my daily e-mails. I though you had fixed that (read your blog post)?
Anyway, if you can help me to get those to things working I am a happy camper. :)
This issue was fixed twice before, now it's returned again. I never received email for a couple days, then I get an email that says:

What can we do to stop this problem as it keeps coming back. FreindorFollow does not have this issue and they are always super accurate - So is TwitterGrader.
For about a week now, I've been receiving SocialToo emails which state that I have no new follows or unfollows. But this is wrong. I've had both, yet the email does not cover it. Thinking about canceling the daily email unless this is fixed, as it's not doing much good and just adding to inbox clutter at the moment.
When I revive my email with the list of new followers and people no longer following. I'd like to have an option to click a link, and take all of the new followers and post a #FollowFriday and maybe something evil for the un-followers. make up your own hastag for that. :-p thanks. Dev.
In the lower section of the report, where you list the new follows and unfollows, you really ought to consider using a real simple HTML table to format that part of the report.
It would make it much more readable and usable ...
It would be helpful in the email feedback of followers & unfollowers to state which date the stats represent as they seem to be one to two days behind. Love SocialToo! Keep up the good work! www.twitter.com/supahstah
