Why users who are married are marked as unknown on Thread?
When I look at my friends of friends on Thread, for many of them the question 'single ?' is answered by 'unknown' (or '?') even though I can clearly see their relationship status on their Facebook profile.
In particular it is a bit problematic when i need to search for 'single & Unknown' and I end up with members who stated on their Facebook profile that they are married.
Thanks,
Mosh

Inappropriate?Hi Mosh,
Thanks for posting this question. There are times unfortunately when people's privacy settings are set to not share certain things via the Facebook Platform/API as they do on Facebook.com.
But if you are seeing this problem a lot, we can doublecheck to see if this is a bug or not. Just email me at katherine@thread.com and include your Facebook user ID (found after "id=" when you click on your own profile photo on Facebook.com), and some Facebook ID numbers (or profile URLs) of people with the missing statuses.
We'll figure out if this is a bug or just the nature of those people's privacy settings. Thanks so much!

Inappropriate?Katherine, I believe that this problem is a bit more common and may be due to a bug in Facebook API -
Since mid-December, most people have new default settings regarding what can be shared by friends via apps. By default, gender and age are shared but relationship status is not.
Also, even those Facebook users who allow Everyone to view their relationship status on their profile are not sharing this info with other apps.
Best

Inappropriate?Hi Mosh,
Thanks for pointing out this bug -- yes, that might be causing us problems too. We'll look into it more. If you have any specific examples (like Facebook ID #'s) we can see if our data is different than what is viewable on Facebook.
Thanks again!

Inappropriate?Katherine,
Here are some members that have their relationship status available to (probably) everyone and show as 'unknown' on my searches on Thread (It looks like almost all friends of members who joined Thread lately are 'unknown')
1548357591 Mega (Arika), Single
100000493941830 Siska Eka, Single
594452292 Steven, In a Relationship
100000188876301 Maman, Engaged
100000351233448 Bee Sky, In an Open rRelationship
Thanks,

Inappropriate?Hey Mosh,
Thanks, you're right. These are a result of the bug. Really appreciate your pointing that out so we could doublecheck. I guess we'll all be waiting for the outcome from Facebook.
Thanks again,

Inappropriate?Hi Katherine,
Has there been any news on this? ... This is a big issue for Thead.com as it is difficult to see my single friends. That is the point of the site.
Is there any news from Facebook?
Thanks,
Sarah

Inappropriate?Hi Sarah and Moishe,
You guys probably already know this, but Facebook finally fixed the bug that was blocking relationship status for most people via their API. http://bugs.developers.facebook.com/s...
So things should be looking better on Thread, where if you can see relationship status on Facebook, you should be able to see it on our site as well.
Thanks for your help reporting this and helping to lobby Facebook to fix the bug!

Inappropriate? So the relationship status filter should work now on the Deck?
-
Inappropriate?Hi Asaf,
It should, yes. But now that the FB bug is fixed, I see some instances of Unknown people slipping into the Single filter. We'll fix that one up.
