wordpress caption tags are included
Pictures in Wordpress posts now have [caption] tags around them. These tags aren't handled properly by pingpress - the post to tumblr has this in it:
[caption id=”” align=”alignleft” width=”240” caption=”Image by tchuntfr via Flickr”] [/caption]
[caption id=”” align=”alignleft” width=”240” caption=”Image by tchuntfr via Flickr”] [/caption]

Inappropriate? They aren't handled by my plugin at all, it is not my fault or concern if WordPress chose to use non-HTML tags. The plugin is a relay, not a parser.
-
Inappropriate? So should I be talking to ping.fm about this?
-
Inappropriate?Sean will give you less of an answer than I will. Neither Ping.fm or my plugin are not responsible for moderating any user's content.
The extent of changing user content is as follows: For microblog and status updates, HTML is removed in its entirety. The same PHP function is used by both Ping.fm and my plugin: strip_tags. This is not a custom function, but one designated by the PHP developers. No changes are made to blog posts. None.
I simply can not account for every single flaw in WordPress' content management. If I remove the [caption], I might as well remove the CSS classes and id's that Tumblr, LJ, and Blogger can't understand. I simply don't have the time to do that for a free plugin.
You have three options: stop using [captions] and convert them into <.div><.img><.br />caption<./div> (this is my suggestion and what I do), ask wordpress to stop using non-HTML inside HTML as they are the system breaking usability/interchangeability, or approach Tumblr to support [captions].
