win7 ultimate ITA - installed, ask me for first reboot, reboot, show me the time to reboot, click on show me why, analyze started, at 90% error message "Soluto failed to analyze most recent boot", try 3 reboot but always the same error.

Hey guys,
Sorry for this, we are working on a fix that will be available soon.
This might occur if the files got corrupted. In the mean time you can try the following:

1. Uninstall Soluto.
2. Go to C:\ProgramData\Soluto and delete the folder.
(this folder is hidden by default, if you do not see it go to Organize – Folder and search options: Go to View – and choose the radio button: “Show hidden files, folders, and drives”.
3. Install Soluto again.

Let me know if everything is ok.

  Your steps were: 1-uninstall Soluto then 2-remove a Soluto folder from ProgramData. Question: When a program is uninstalled, shouldn't it completely remove all "pieces" of it (icons, executables, folders, etc) and not leave any remnants?!

In this archive (one of the many in this folder, but the content is always the same): "C:\ProgramData\Soluto\Logs\bf7870a0-45bd-400f-afa1-7b1272c26fea-LocalGenomePackage-19.06.2010-19_32_43.zip"
there is the file "ErrorLog.txt" with the following lines:
"Error in the date format. [ Expression (if known) = 05/25/2010 02.03.46 ]

INSERT CatalogItems ([Id], [Name], [Icon], [LongDescription], [ShortDescription], [CatalogItemCategoryId], [LastUpdatedAt], [PublicKey], [IsInGIC]) VALUES (28901, '3D Text Commander', null, null, null, null, '05/25/2010 02.03.46', 'ad899363-de5b-2e52-4f84-a8444045ef20', 0)"

It seems that the problem is caused by the program "3D Text Commander", but it doesn't start at boot time, so it should not cause problems to Soluto...

After many attempts and boot now I'm going to unistall it and I'll see what happens...

However, it is not good behavior from the program to go to watch all the programs installed and not just those that start at boot

Thanks to members of this thread we managed to solve the problem. It is related to non English OS's that format dates in a manner we do not recognize, hence, causing a bug on analysis.

If you have non-English OS, I would recommend to uninstall Soluto for the time been. I will update that thread when the new version will be out.

If you do not and you are ready to help us by allowing me to remote support you, contact me directly by mail: ishay@soluto.com. It will be greatly appreciated.

Yup, still having the same issue after having uninstalled, deleted the folder, downloaded the install file and installed Soluto freshly again.

The only difference is that before it was stopping at 99% and now somewhat around 87/88%.

Same here, reinstalling did not solve the problem. More precisely, now dates in Italian format are correctly parsed, but there are still dates in US format in logs generated by some programs (including some Windows components). Upon my last attempt (so far) Soluto seemed to have problems parsing "05/25/2010 01.14.59", which is understandable if it was expecting Italian format (dd/mm/yyyy). Furthermore, some days ago it failed more or less the same way (though on "InsertMinorVersionCatalogItems" instead of "InsertCatalogItems") trying to parse what looks to me like some kind of "null" date value ("12/31/1899 23.00.00").

Let's face it, guys: from a practical point of view, programs got to be expected to store dates in whatever format pretty much pleases them at any given moment. A "best guess" algorithm is in order. Also keep in mind that 12/31/1899 (either local or UTC, so that includes 1/1/1900 or 12/30/1899, depending upon the time zone) is a "null" date value for some software, due to the storage format of dates in COM/ActiveX, which stores timestamps as double-precision floating point numbers representing the distance in days from December 30th, 1899.

I hope this will help someway, although I think by now you'll have already figured it out on your own.

  I am sorry you feel this way. The vast majority of our users (over 95%) do not encounter any problems using Soluto, but as this is Beta software problems do happen, and there are bugs that still linger on.
  Please understand we are a small start-up and sometimes it takes more than a few days to fix a problem.
  Most of these problems should resolve with our next major version, coming up later this month, but we are not all-powerful and I am sure not all problems will be solved, and that new ones will surface - that is beta. So it might take more time than that, but we will get to fix all the bugs out there.
  
  I am sorry there is no quick fix at the moment.
