I’m frustrated

not running gui under Win 7 (X64)

scenario:
i7 intel machine running Windows 7 (X64) Spanish version, also installed Visual studio 2010 (plus .net framework from 2.0 to 4.0) while booting, soluto runs and display time taken by boot. when clicking "see why" button loading splash displays for a while and then nothing.

On tray bar soluto icon only have enabled "live boot progress" check in context menu.
by running soluto.exe from shell or from windows start menu can see a screen displaying "Analizing" and then it disappears same way that loading screen.

Can I help debugging source code?

We've released a new version today, which should solve the issues raised in this thread.

If you have Soluto running, than Soluto would auto-update to version 1.1.1056.0 (you can check by ctrl+clicking Soluto tray icon). If you have uninstalled and willing to give us another try - please download the latest version from the website.

I'm having this problem too, I'm using Windows 7 Professional x64.
I've tried reinstalling the program (twice!), as well as several reboots.

I am using the latest version - I only discovered this program and installed it for the first time about 3 hours ago! Since then I have uninstalled soluto, cleared my caches, and re-downloaded and re-installed the program twice - and still no luck!

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling a few times. I have the same problem running Windows 7 Ultimate N x64. It runs fine on my XP virtual machine, but that isn't of much use to me at the moment. Keep up the good work. Hoping for a fix soon!

The problem is not related to the OS. We are very close on releasing the new version that suppose to resolve that issue.

Hey guys,

This error could be related to a WPF issue with cached fonts (Soluto is a WPF application).

Could you please try and follow these steps from Microsoft Support KB: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/937135 :

Exit all WPF-based applications that are running on the computer.
Stop the Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 service. To stop the Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0 service, use one of the following methods.

Method 1: Use Microsoft Management Console
Click Start, click Run, type Services.msc, and then click OK.
Right-click Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0, and then click Stop.
Method 2: Use the command prompt
Click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type net stop "Windows Presentation Foundation Font Cache 3.0.0.0", and then press ENTER.
Delete the old Fontcache3.0.0.0.dat file.

Note By default, the Fontcache3.0.0.0.dat file is located in the %windir%\ServiceProfiles\LocalService\AppData\Local folder in Windows Vista. By default, the Fontcache3.0.0.0.dat file is located in the %systemdrive%\Documents and Settings\LocalService\Local Settings\Application Data folder in Windows XP and in earlier versions of Windows.

Your method didn't work for me, Maya.
I uninstalled Soluto, deleted the font cache, updated the video drivers, and reinstalled it but...still the same bug.

PS : The 2nd method in the MS KB article doesn't work on non-English Windows editions since the WPF font cache service has a localized name (e.g. "Cache de police de Windows Presentation Foundation" in French) ;-)

No luck for me neither! I've followed the steps in your guide, uninstalled Soluto after a reboot when installing the latest GFX driver, and downloaded a new installer from your website and installed.
After that I rebooted twice (so I got the notice "See here why!") but when clicking to see what took so long, it started loading the program (box appeared with "Loading") but after half a minute or something, it disappeared.

I check the icon in my process bar and it still wont let me do anything but Exit and "Live monitor" thingie.
I launched the program from the .exe file which made the program go into the "Analyzing..." mode, which it has been doing for about 5 mins now.

It hasn't exit yet, neither started, so I can't tell if it will or wont.
If it actually launches, I'll post an update. If not, it died. :)

Just downloaded the software and installed it. I'm having the same problem with Windows 7 Home Premium. Stuck at 47% analyzing 'new programs identifying with the genome'.

  This issue is not related to the analyzing process to get stuck at 47%. We, me, the one starting the thread, and others, couldn't even get to that point! So I suppose you were a bit more lucky ;).

I have this problem too and I have more details (in my case):

OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional

Symptons: Same as above (No GUI when requested, endless analyzing), it also results in UAC not elevating and various RPC errors which makes any administrative tasks very hard.

Cause: Yes, cause! After a lot of time suddenly my system starts booting the delayed applications and I do get to see the GUI, when I go to the event log I see the cause: A timeout was reached (600000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Soluto PCGenome Core Service service to connect.

If I could only discover what makes the service wait for such long time, well, obfuscation prevents me from reflecting that... :-D

Maybe the developers can solve that with the suggestions made in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/21...

Is there a way to start a remote session by going to an URL where support people are waiting rather than sending an e-mail and receiving the answer at a wrong time thus the session has expired? e.g. Different timezone, Work/Sleep/...

I'm also wondering about logging capabilities, as it is hard to keep up a remote session when I need to reboot the whole time... Even to safe mode to disable the annoying bug which causes me to wait ten minutes when I boot.

I did a fix to my problem which allows me to run Soluto properly again without seeing any negative impact done by the solution, I've changed the ServicesPipeTimeout value in the registry to 5000 which indicates that a service times out after 5 seconds if something goes wrong. Which causes it to start again later due to the recovery settings in services.msc.

The timeout value might be a bad advice to others, I would recommend 30 or 60 seconds instead. It anyway works better than the default 10 minutes. Please note that thix fix works in my case, which has the same symptons as this topic but also some additional symptons. Be careful and don't forget to take a back-up before changing things... A time-out set too low might prevent any services to start properly and thus could break your system!

As this fixes my issue I think the service is timing out on something or not informing Windows when it has started or does not let Windows know how much more time it needs. Or maybe the service does more than it needs to do in the start routine...

I just downloaded and installed Solutio and it doesn't run under my windows 7 operating system.

I get a "loading" message... and that's all.

Windows Task Manager shows Solutio working, and shows the solutio console exe running, but still the loading never completes.

Rebooting, deleting, and reinstalling didn't help.

Its clear that the problem hasn't been solved yet.

If you have Soluto running, than Soluto would auto-update to version 1.1.1056.0 (you can check by ctrl+clicking Soluto tray icon). If you have uninstalled and willing to give us another try - please download the latest version from the website.

When I start up computer, Soluto shows me "Pc boot is in progress" at least for 5 minutes. When it done, my antivirus (AVG Internet Security 2011) shows turned off status. I have win7 ultimate x64 and the latest version of Soluto.

I had a similar problem with a non-Soluto application when I was using AVG 2010, but solved it rapidly/

What worked for me was (1 Uninstalling the application; (2) turning off my AVG. (3) (re) downloading and (4) reinstalling the application.

Perhaps that will work with you.

ps. AVG is truly virus free, but I sure worried about temporarily tuning off my anti-virus program before downloading and installing it.

I think the benefits of Soluto will be worth the trouble.
