I’m frustrated

Stuck at 47%

Some progress....Soluto ran ok on 1 PC - but didn't find anything to remove at that PC has *issues* :-) so I was disappointed.

On my main PC it is now at "New applications discovered. Identifying them using the PC Genome" but it has been stuck at 47% for hours...

If you are stuck at 47% please check which Soluto version you are running by CTRL+Clicking the tray icon.

If you are running a version similar to 1.0.XXX.0 please uninstall and reinstall using the latest installer on the website (you will see the current version number on our download page).

If you are running version 1.1.XXX.0, it could mean there's a glitch on our servers which will be resolved in a few hours.

This problem has been fixed. If you are getting a 47% or 74% error now (august) it means there's a glitch on our end, and it will be fixed it in a matter of hours.

I guess that you tried to restart more then once (You are a windows user after all). If the problem persists please contact me directly by email and I will explain what you should do manually to resolve the problem.

  How do we contact you by email? No matter how many times I reboot, it's stuck at 1%. Until this happened, I thought this app was great. Now, I am not so positive and may even uninstall unless I can stop this hung-up process from zapping my PC's resources.

Yes.. I've been able to get one of mine to go to completion as well. The second one is still stuck at 47%. I shaved 54.1 seconds off my boot time. Although soluto takes 11 seconds to load so I guess that's only 43 seconds.

  I was stuck @ 47% for several days, but yesterday after boot I was no longer stuck, but now soluto said I had 0 applications during boot. I did an uninstall/reinstall of soluto and all cleared and discovery happened properly.

I found my self in the same situation: cpu at 50% and the "Analysing sptep lasting forever. I tried a reboot, and now the analysis does not hang, but Soluto says it cannot proceed in analysing... and tells me I need another reboot.
Maybe we should wait the next release?

Soluto seemed nice on the video, but so far all I got from it has been a lot of frustration!

BTW, why do you need to log in to Get Satisfaction to post a reply? I don't want this. This is just giving me more grief. Soluto Team, please come up with a solution for these annoying problems fast before you lose all your credibility.

  Well the installer downloads 100% for me now, but then does it all over again. I'm stuck in a download loop. HELP!!!
  
  Finally, I get an error message saying Soluto has reached the maximum times or restarting downloads. Could I please contact support@soluto.com?

I wonder. How comes it's exactly 47 for almost everybody. What is this magic number.
My guess: it has nothing to do with actually counting or measuring anything. These numbers are meaningless. The blue line of progress is nothing but a grapically pretty line.
I also wonder what made Soluto get this product out with such a major bug. I have already uninstalled it, being unsure about it's behavior in my system.
I follow this forum in order to maybe decide to reinstall it.

  Hi yud. 47% is not a magic number, it actually has a lot of meaning. The synchronization process of each client with the PC Genome is quite complex and includes many steps. The measurement gets to 47% at a very specific function call to the PC Genome that has a long response time when it's under heavy traffic. Knowing that it's 47% lets us know exactly at what step of the synchronization process we have the scale problem. It's not a constant issue, it happens only during spikes of traffic, like those following a major blog post. We are working very hard to take care of this bottleneck, but it's not simple. Please understand we were not prepared for this kind of traffic, it's very difficult for us, and we're really putting a lot of effort into fixing everything. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with our product, I hope that if you'll try again you'll enjoy it.

Got the same problem @ first trial, reinstalled and now I'm experiencing the message "Soluto failed to analyze most recent boot" "You'll need to reboot..." This is now where I'm stuck and tryed more than 10 reboots.

Ran twice in WinXP and it starts with 57% new apps discovered & identifying and doesn't move from there for an hour. Have just read the postings here -- 43 of them going back 20 days and still not working. So need to uninstall and wait until a msg is received from Soluto's office advising this has been corrected.

  Hi Greg, I want to explain a couple of points. The boot process itself is not tied to the cloud service. The relation to the cloud service is only relevant for opening our application and trying to make changes (after the boot has finished). The issue with the delayed applications is an unrelated bug that we're working on. I know you're not happy with Soluto right now and I feel very bad about it, believe me we're working very hard to resolve everything, and sleeping very little. I decided to uninstall to get my Delayed apps back.

Luckily the uninstall was able to put my apps back into the startup cycle.

Figure I'll try reinstalling once people say it's working better.

  You can launch your paused applications from the tray icon. If that doesn't do the trick, I suggest you uninstall in the meanwhile, sorry for that.

Here's a suggestion: Remove the PC booting process from the talking to your website process. When your website is down you shouldn't break the user's PC booting cycle.

You got that right. Also, the launch my delayed/paused apps do not work when this is hung up. It of course raises the question of why this software needs to call into the mothership every time it is loaded...

I am thinking that perhaps if I reboot without an internet connection I will be able to start the software, if the program load before trying to connect to the internet. I am doubtful, since seems to me that the 47% marker is probably when they try to attach to their server, and it fails.

I mentioned this earlier; but I had good luck with removing the software to get my apps back. The app seems to put everything back to normal on un-installation.

I'm still hoping to reinstall it when things are more stable.

I want to be honest with you - at the moment we are at a dead end with this bug, and can't figure out why it is still happening to a small percentage of our users.

If you are willing to help us out, please contact us at support@soluto.com for a debugging session (copy this thread URL and your username).

At the moment we don't have a solution, so the only remaining option is to uninstall Soluto. Uninstalling, as Greg mentioned, will revert all changes back. Hopefully you'll give us another chance in the future.

I'll send an e-mail. What I did to partially solve the problem was uninstall using your uninstaller. The Ghost service did not come up, i.e. not all services and startup programs were restored.

I then reinstalled your program and it got past the 47%.

However, the Ghost services were still giving errors.

I found that the services were not started and started them manually. They are currently running, but I have not had time to reboot to see if the problem is solved.

I will send an e-mail to trouble shoot as I think this is a good program and worthwhile, but it does not look like it works with all services and your remove does not work cleanly either.

I fixed the Ghost problem, but it required consultation with Norton and a clean uninstall, then reinstall. So all is running now.

I did a lot of work on this. Once the program was delayed, it would not return to undelayed. I could not change it in the services control panel. It would go back to being started, but on reboot, it would not be started.

Norton Ghost is a very complex program, and would recommend not to delay or pause it.

Hey, you got the #1 problem. Now, what the developers should do is make a careful record (lotsa ways of doing this) of all the setiings, and then restore these settings during an uninstall.

Try a system restore and you may be in luck, if you have a pre-Soluto restore point... developers might be able to incorporate this (restore point on install....).

Almost a fresh install of Win7 64bit with Soluto BETA install.
Like others stock 47% when open the program.. reinstall etc. nothing helps.

Im not angry just sad that you guys are running into problems with the software so made a temp logo for you. Hope you can see the joke :)

  As for your issue - there's no downtime at the moment. I suggest you uninstall and delete the entire content of this folder:
  C:\ProgramData\Soluto
  (you can get to it quickly if you click Start and type %programdata%)
  Try to install Soluto again after this. Let me know if it still fails.

i tried the program 2 months ago and it was working flawless... now it sucks bigtime.
could you make a dirty way around the PC Genome thingy... i just need to see what is booting and how long it takes... it would be great to be able to see this since im stuck on 47% and after reinstall im stuck on 1%...

  Hi Michael - well the program is having a little hangover so try this : Well im guising your running the Windows 7 32/64 bit ye? If thats correct try the uninstall of the program AND remove C:\ProgramData\Soluto folder that works in the 93.9% of the time. And no its not the "C:\Program Files" OR "C:\Program Files (x86)" if you cant see the "C:\ProgramData\" just try to c/p it ind and see whats happens.. and yeah the program is still in its beta :) Cheers mate - and sleep tight (i know i will) (And got the advise of some crazy gal caled Maya)

It keep having this problem again for few days since last week, all delay or paused program were unable to start through soluto.

  Yes we know... that's the reason we took down the downloads a couple of weeks ago. Our next release will fix that, it will be out very soon.

Stuck at 47%. Soluto latest installation download confirms I already have latest version installed [on WinXP SP3; Soluto 1.0.751.0].

  Please first uninstall the current version, then reinstall from the website.
  The latest version is 1.1.1056.0. You can find the latest version information on our download page, or Company Updates in the forum.

  Ahhh, yes...uninstall first. Simple. Now it works.
  I tried to launch installer without uninstalling old version first, and it said my version was up to date...hence the confusion. (Maybe consider to fix that error in the installer???)

If you are stuck at 47% please check which Soluto version you are running by CTRL+Clicking the tray icon.

If you are running a version similar to 1.0.XXX.0 please uninstall and reinstall using the latest installer on the website (you will see the current version number on our download page).

If you are running version 1.1.XXX.0, it could mean there's a glitch on our servers which will be resolved in a few hours.
