Improvement for section 2.5.2 - should include instructions on conf/settings.xml
In section 2.5.2 you should emphasise that when upgrading one must remember to also copy the settings.xml file from the previous installation into the directory of the new installation.

Inappropriate?Actually, unless you are in a shared unix environment, you shouldn't edit the /conf/settings.xml. You should instead copy or create a new settings in your $HOME/.m2/settings.xml. Then you never have to worry about moving it around when you upgrade maven, or if you have multiple versions installed.
I’m happy

Inappropriate?Brian, I'm probably going to put a quick note in the section with the caveat that you shouldn't be modifying M2_HOME/conf/settings.xml unless you are in a shared unix environment.

Inappropriate?I added a note about the global settings.xml file to the book just now, it should be up in a few mintues. I also added Steinar Cook's name to the list of people reporting problems on Get Satisfaction (in the preface).
