Recently active topics in Songbird

I'm not a fan of having albums sorted alphabetically, so is there a way to have albums sorted by the year of release as a secondary criterion to the artist name?

For example, The Strokes' albums would be listed:
Is This It [2001]
Room On Fire [2003]
First Impressions of Earth [2006]

Instead of the current way they are listed:
First Impressions of Earth [2006]
Is This It [2001]
Room On Fire [2003]

I'm probably being dense and missing it completely, but I'd appreciate some help.

I'm running Vista on a dell laptop. Firefox works great but for some reason I can't get Songbird to connect to the internet to update subscriptions, get addons, or even connect as a web browser. I just get the "Failed to Connect" error. I'm not sure why this would happen if it's set up the same way Firefox 3.0 is. How can I get it to connect?

I use Windows Defender but Songbird is set as an exception.

After I imported some playlists from my iPod I get to see duplicate songs in the library (as if appearing one time in the original library and second time in the playlist) so if I play the library I get to hear each song which is in a playlist played twice...

Am I missing something here? what to do?

I just downloaded the 1.2 , SB . Currently im trying to figure out how to do
the Itunes export. Do I have to import one first - makes changes and then
export or can I just make a playlist and send it over. Ive been looking all
over the program for some info here. I have the Touch So I need need this!

Is there some way that I can have tiered sorting, meaning that I have multiple sort categories with different priority. My problem is that I want to sort by artist and then by year, but I can only sort by artist. The second tier is album name by default, but I want to change this to be year. Can someone write an add-on that will sort by multiple characteristics, or find some way of doing this in songbird as it is now.

I download a lot of live recordings that do not have much metadata so I must input it manually. I found a decent method with iTunes for track numbers, just leave the track field highlighted and click next. I just tried doing this with songbird and it took much longer, the field would not stay highlighted and there was a delay after every couple of songs I edited. It's really great that I can have my FLAC files in here and I hope there is a better way of inputting track numbers

Hi i am new here and this is my first post, it is brilliant to be able to suggest new ideas for Songbird ( what a beautiful title ), i am now getting increasingly frustated with apples continued rejection of giving itunes the ability to play avi, mkv files etc, this is where i think songbird could become the media player of choice, if you could give it the ability to play avi,mkv and other popular video files as others have suggested, that would be brilliant, i currently have a lot of music videos in avi format so the ability to tag vid files as music videos ( as you can in itunes ) and also have the ability to shuffle them and make playlists would be something i would love.

I exported playlist from my computer to my ipod, all was fine however the song order has been changed and I don't have a clue how to make so that the song order is the same as on my computer (that is from the best rated song to the worse rated). Is there a way to do that in songbird? (I'm using songbird on ubuntu).

Is there a way to know what the status of the itunes sync is? I have a one way sync from songbird to itunes (so that I can sync my itouch and not use itunes to manage/liston to music because songbird is infinitely better then itunes) It would be nice to have some sort of feedback telling me the progress of the sync. How could I turn on a status bar or something?
