Watch-folder is the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT feature that is missing from Songbird. When this feature is added, expect everyone to ditch iTunes once and for all. Songbird will become the mainstream iPod software.
Hi, please can you improve MTP Device support for Linux, specially for Ubuntu distribution, I love your player, but I can't sync my mp3 player with my library. Help Linux Users with this issue.
Congrats for your work, the player is really good.
I would like to know if there is an upcoming version of the MTP player support for OSX. I have a Creative Zen player but only recognizes the SD card and not the internal memory.
My ipod (5th gen 60GB video) takes forever to mount in songbird. Typically between 30 and 60 minutes. After it mounts it operates correctly. I'm running songbird in Ubuntu 8.04.
How do I get Songbird 0.7 to recognize my Creative Zen player? I have the MTP device addon, and am running Windows XP SP2. When I plug it in the computer recognizes it, but Songbird doesn't respond in any way.
Using v0.6 I was able transfer files to my samsung yp-p2. On upgrading to 0.7, my YP-P2 no longer appears in the sidebar. I tried reverting to the last v.6 I could find in the nightly builds, but I am unable to install the MTP add-on for this version. Is there anything I can do to get support for my devise back or is that it? I stopped using Winamp 'cos it wouldn't support this device, I'm kind of keen to get it back.
I have a 5th Generation Ipod Video (30Gb) which Songbird just won't recognise. I'm using the latest 0.7.0 beta of songbird, and the latest version of the ipod support plug in (3.0.9.716), with windows XP.
I've tried everything suggested in posts by those with similar problems, from restoring the ipod in itunes, formatting the ipod (Fat 32) from within windows, creating a new profile within songbird. I've tried it both with itunes installed and without.
The ipod shows up in windows and works fine under itunes : s
All help greatly appreciated, because i really want to get this working.
I was trying to help with solving bugzilla #11302 (Track rating not written to iPod) by checking if #8024 (iPod ratings are wrong) is still an issue since it lays out the fix for broken ratings, but I cannot find the source.
Hi folks. I had recently begun using Songbird 0.6 with an iRiver X20 through MTP device support. Things had gone relatively smoothly with the exception of the failure of Songbird to notice the device's ability to play OGG/Vorbis media files. After upgrading to version 0.7 the X20 is no longer discovered by the software and I am thus unable to view or synchronise its contents. I am running Microsoft Vista SP1.
Is anybody able to offer any advice/pointers here? If any devs are interested in doing device support for the iRiver X series, I would be happy to provide some testing time.
I recently downloaded iMesh so that I can download songs. I'm using Songbird, because all of the songs on iMesh are DRM protected, so iTunes won't accept them. I am able to get the songs onto Songbird, but they won't sync to my iPod. What am I supposed to do now? I created a playlist and drag-and-dropped some of the songs in there, but I have over 60 songs, and I don't want to have to do that for every song. I also tried selecting all the songs and dragging them into the playlist, but every time I do that, they either replace the songs already there, or they add to the list one at a time, and then they still don't always end up on my iPod.
I have a Samsung YP-P2 and it no longer shows up in Songbird when connected.
I am using version 0.7
Just trying to find out if i have done something wrong or if i need/can do something to get it going
thanks
I've been using iTunes to manage my music for a long time, and I want to get out from behind the Pewter Curtain. I was hoping Songbird might be the answer. If I can sync the songs I've bought on iTunes with, say, a Creative Zen, it would definitely provide a lot more incentive to switch, although I'm not sure on the legality on this. If possible, this would probably also attract a lot of others in my position to Songbird.
I downloaded Songbird 0.7 Beta. I had my previous installation of Songbird in my "Music" folder. I deleted that and installed the new version, placing that in my "Music" folder. I opened up the Songbird folder, clicked on the Songbird icon, and the program opened normally. I then went to the Shoutcast section and started playing a station. Everything proceded normally.
I then decided to load some new "feathers." I downloaded all of them. As the music was playing, I tried installing several of them. All went normally until I got to the last one (and I do not remember the name but I believe it began with either a "Y" or a "Z." It was the last one in the "feathers" choice section). As soon as I opened this one, the program disappeared from view. The music continued but I could see nothing.
I rebooted the computer and, when I tried to restart Songbird, I could see nothing. I deleted the entire folder from my "Music" file and then reinstalled the program but this did not work either.
What can I do to "bring back" my Songbird? I am running Ubuntu v. 8.04 ("Hardy Heron") on an Acer Extensa 5620-6419 computer (Intel Core 2 Duo processor T5550 [1.83 GHz, 667 MHz FSB, L2 Cache) with 3 GB DDR2 RAM).
Songbird had always functioned perfectly and did so until I installed this particular "feather." I hope you can help me.
I have a creative Zen Stone (currently unsupported, but I believe it is on the roadmap).
It has a capacity of only 2GB while my library is closer to 30GB.
The I idea I would like to impart to you is a syncing arrangement for smaller devices.
essentially it would give the user a playlist limited to the size of the synced device to fill. Then songs swapped back and forth with that playlist would be synced to the device.
That way you could add stuff to your device when you don't have it. (ie I just realised that I want 'The End' by The Doors on my creative, but I left it at my friends house. I won't remember by the time I get it back, but if I shove it onto my Zen Sync-list now: I don't have to!)
After syncing my Ipod to Songbird, the tracks show up on the ipod but most of them won't play. The song simply sits at the 0:00 mark and won't start. If I search the songs enough I can find some albums that will play but most don't. I am running Ubuntu 8.04, Ipod classic 80GB. When I first synced the ipod it said it was already synced to another device and asked if I wanted to delete the library before syncing, I said YES to that question.
