1.2 fails to load with Music Organiser turned on
I've just turned on the music organiser feature because i thought it would nice and stable now it's on official release. Now, Songbird reorganises my music collection on every start up and then fails to load the actual player, so I can't actually play any music which is somewhat frustrating. Can anyone point me inthe right direction? I reinstalled but to no avail - is there away I can turn of music organiser without having to load the porgram?

Inappropriate?please someone help me! This getting really frustrating. When I try and load songbird (1.2.0 or 1.3.0a) it reorganises my library and then nothing else happens. The process shows up in my task manager, taking up loads of ram, but it doesn't getas far as the songbird GUI. What can I do?? I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling twice now but nothing happens.
Seriously people, can someone help me out...? I'll....buy you a cookie? -
Inappropriate?COOKIE! yes!
sorry Tim, when i first saw your problem, i ruled out all the "stupid mistakes" that a user could make.. since its you.. so that left me with close to nothin on what the heck was going on here..
I would say to wipe your profile (but i dont think you wanna lose your library customizations/playlists? right?) Have you tried safe mode?
Do your files look like they are already organized in Windows Explorer? There is probably some way to turn off the media manager without opening songbird.. ill track down the pref file location.. ;-) wouldnt mind seeing this actually happening though.. seems a bit odd.. maybe zip/rar up your profile folder and send it to me: mpurses at gmail dot com...
I’m hoping i can get a cookie!

Inappropriate?Hahaha, cheers dude. I got a little proactive in the end and wpied songbird, nuked all my profiles and started again with a fresh copy of 1.2.0.
I then restored my music library from my external harddrive, imported my old iTunes library, downloaded my Last.fm play counts and I'm pretty much good to go. I lost some playlists but they were mostly smart one so no big deal.
It seems to be working fine. I think I must have picked up a sketchy addon somewhere along the way, something was going a bit awry. Still, we're all good now!
I’m I'd still buy you a cookie though, it's the thought that counts!

Inappropriate?I have the same problem - each time I start SB (on OsX Leopard) with file organizing feature switched on, it takes 30 min rewriting everything, and than it cannot find the files and crashes. It works only when I keep Itunes for file managing issues - But I would prefer to use only 1 program for music stuff. Any suggestions out there?

Inappropriate?G'day,
Songbird 1.4 is apparently a LOT better in this department... -
Inappropriate? Its at 1.4.0 in the nightlies (which means late release candidates, so possibly REALLY soon now). Also, if you check the list of known remaining scheduled bugs, there are no more blockers, and only 2 public bugs. However, it will be released when it is ready. Whilst there are expected dates for any project, they are flexible for a reason (if a major bug for instance is found the day of release, any decent project would push back the date). So no idea honestly. I doubt anyone could know at this time.. My best guess would be soon.
You could use the nightlies though if you wished (but for end users, better to wait). And unlike 1.3.0 though which vanished and was never released, it seems incredibly unlikely that the same would happen to 1.4 (so expect a release). Hopefully soon (I want to finish my Songbird Demo Video for the contest). :D
I’m hoping its soonish
