Add-on idea: Animated service panes (opening/closing)
Wouldn't it be cool if, instead of the service panes just snapping open and shut, they smoothly slid out?
I'm not even sure if this is possible through an add-on, but still. It's a cool idea.

Inappropriate?That would be totally cool!

Inappropriate?I like it! As long as it isn't slow or anything... :P

Inappropriate?Yea, that's why I think it should be an add-on. If it were jerky, the entire effect and purpose would be ruined.

Inappropriate? It's good from a usability point of view, something to show users just what is going on. Reduce those "What did *that* do?" moments.
But it has to happen quickly. If someone opens a pane by accident, the time from opening and then closing it again should not result in the user having to wait for the actions/animations to complete before being able to do what they intended. -
Inappropriate? It would also just look cool.
The kind of thing you would do just for the sake of watching it happen.
But I do agree with you entirely. It would go about as fast as opening the sidebar in Preview. (The mac app) -
better example: the way the iTunes album art window slides up and down. -
