Add support for older iPod models on Linux
Hello together!
Before the 0.6 release, older ipod models where regognized with the ipod addon on Linux. Since then, the developers decided to stop supporting that models on linux, leaving me and others on our own..., models like the iPod Min or Touch Wheel, didn't work on Linux anymore, although they use the same libraries on other platforms with all that iPods working normally. While in some cases people had a workaround with plugging their iPod into the computer via firewire, other like me have no possibility to get their ipods working again on Linux with Songbird, which is a shame, as it can't be a big issue to fix it, if it worked an is working on other platforms with the same libraries without any problem!
I don't think that I'm the only one having this problem, and I think that there are many people like me, loving this application, but cannot use it with their iPods (mine is working fine for 5 years now, and I don't see, why I should replace it with a new one).
Maybe there are some others out there like me... If yes, let our voice be heard. I hope there are some developers out there that pick up this topic, as it is an amazing music player with a great community!
Please let me know if you support this idea. For details see Bugzilla ## 7741, 9041, 9042 as well as http://wiki.songbirdnest.com/Docs/Dev....
Regards,
Manuel
