Album art displaying multipe times for same album.
Version: Songbird 1.1.1, Build 1018 (20090309144748)
MediaFlow 3.0
Media Flow displays album art multiple time for same album, 45 images of same album is too much. Problem seems to be with multiple artists for same track/album. Such as
Sevendust, Clint Lowery, Animosity, Xmas Day
Sevendust, Animosity, Dead Set
This causes album art to display twice for each entry even though both entries are from the same album.

Inappropriate?Found in MediaFlow official page (http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/238)
If you have an album with multiple artists and want them to show up as one album, make sure all of the tracks have the same album artist property. This can be set when editing their metadata or inline the playlist if you add the album artist column. The album artist property is looked at first and if it doesn't exist the artist is looked at when checking whether tracks with the same album name belong to the same album.
I’m thankful

Yep that fixed the problem, thank you for the help. -
Inappropriate?I have this problem and changing the album artist worked for some albums but I still have this problem...I have made sure that they all have the same name and when asked about editing metadata it says I am editing the whole album but still shows multiple album covers...doesn't make sense.
I’m frustrated
-
Inappropriate?Try to set the same album artist and then close and open songbird.
-
Inappropriate?Yeah, I have this problem Songbird too, and even after verifying and/or adding the "album artist" metadata, it's made no difference!
As pointed out above, it's mostly with regards to albums by multiple artists, though I have at least a couple of albums by a single artist that have this problem too (though this may be something to do with the fact the multiple albums by different artists share the same name, at least in part anyway)... -
Inappropriate? You have to make sure that
- the Album Name is UNIQUE and EXACTLY the same in ALL tracks, with same case
- the Album Artist is UNIQUE and EXACTLY the same in ALL tracks, with same case
- the Image is EXACTLY the same in ALL tracks (ie cut and pasted from the same source)
Then, obviously, you need to order by Album name..
I’m confident

By the way, which SB version are your running on which OS? -
Inappropriate?Songbird 1.2.0 (build 1146) with MediaFlow 3.0.1, running under Microsoft Windows Vista: Home Premium, Service Pack 2.
I read somewhere else on this site that this may be a known issue with Songbird and/or MediaFlow, which I believe needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency - if Songbird is ever to compete with the likes of iTunes and others (which I sincerely believe it is capable of doing, in the near-future), it needs to be as easy-to-use as possible, without excessively noticeable issues such as these... -
Can you retrieve the place where you have read this? There used to be some issues with older version, but I haven't myself met this issue since. And even heard of it, once all the 4 items I've listed above are taken care of.
Maybe you could post somewhere a zip with 2 tracks that are showing a 2 covers instead of one, so that I can check. -
Yes, but was relevant for version 2.7 of the extension.
If you look at the extension history http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/..., version 3.0 has corrected the issue.
So maybe you should double check all the above rules all the same. Often, a space character or a different case for a character will make a difference, although barely noticeable by reading. -
Inappropriate? It's not possible that something is different between tracks - I edit the tracks by selecting them all, then editing the album artist as a group, meaning that whatever I enter is applied to ALL of the tracks regardless!
I’m frustrated
-
Ok, perfect. And just to be sure, you have done the same for the Album name and for the Album art as well, haven't you?
If yes, please identify 2 tracks that have the issue and post them somewhere so that I can test here. -
Inappropriate?Artist (where tracks share the same artist), Album artist ("Various Artists" for compilations, and a single artist for single-artist or band albums), genre and album artwork had all been (re) added, edited and/or otherwise verified using the "select all" method posted above...
As for posting my tracks online, I can't do that, for a couple of different reasons; you should be able to answer my questions here without the files themselves, anyway - the only reason you would need them is if you wanted to replicate the problem, and a search for "MediaFlow" on here shows that I'm certainly not this only one with this issue. -

Then I'm really sorry but I won't be able to help you further.
As many people here, I'm a user just like you, helping others on my spare time (or between two meetings in my real-life job).
You also may know that bug hunting is not magic, and that a first step is try to reproduce the bug. Using the incriminated files helps a lot, usually.
For the couple of reasons above, I "should not" be able to do anything without the files themselves (and even WITH the files actually :-) )
All that being said, you will find more help by the developer of the Add on, directly on the Addon site (http://addons.songbirdnest.com/addon/238).
Be seeing you.
I’m amused
