Album art on the ipod synchronisation problem
I run Songbird 1.1.1 on WinXP and have a ipod nano 4th gen.
1st) my Album art on the ipod got confused. eg. an album pic from an audio book appeared on a song. etc.
2nd) If I apply album art in songbird and synchronize it with the ipod nano, the album art is not displayed on the ipod.
What to do, when will this be fixed

Inappropriate? We are sorry about that... This should do the trick and fix your artwork problems:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) connect your iPod to iTunes
2) switch off "Display album artwork on your iPod" (in the Music tab)
3) switch back on the artwork option
This should do the trick and fix your artwork problems
BUG:

Proper album art support will come in the future.. But as discussed here
http://bugzilla.songbirdnest.com/show...
the team is limited and there are still other tasks which have to be done first.
But iPod Album art support is the first item of the unscheduled feature list...

So STAY TUNED... IT WILL COME!
Thanks! -
Inappropriate?*EDIT* Never mind, I just realized that the option is in iTunes, not Songbird. I'll still leave the description of my problem though as it is still relevant.
I'm having this problem as well. When I sync to my iPod Classic (80gb), album art is displayed, but the wrong art is shown on albums - it seems to be randomly displaying images from other albums instead of the correct art.
I tried the suggested solution, but I don't see the option to disable album artwork on the iPod. I'm using Songbird 1.1.1 on Ubuntu 8.10. Any ideas?
Thanks!

Inappropriate?Thanks Clamm,
this description helped me with the problem, and solved it almost entirely (just on album art on an Audiobook is permanently gone). apparently the problem is not yet solved in the 1.2 overnight beta.
Thanks!
I’m waiting for the uptdat.

Inappropriate?Well, I am experiencing the same problem. I uninstalled iTunes when I installed Songbird because in order to listen to my iPod on my computer through iTunes, it'd have to sync and save ALL the filed to my computer which would take too much room.
I am wondering if there any way at all to get album art saved to both Songbird and my 120 GB iPod?
I’m sad

Inappropriate?Hi Celestine,
you do not need to uninstall iTunes if you want to listen to your Ipod songs on your computer. You can listen through songbird, with itunes installed, there is no interference.
Maybe you mean that your library is automatically synchronized between the computer and your ipod and that's why you have to have the songs on the computer. But you can disable that by going in iTunes on your ipod and enable "manually manage music and videos". (and disable "open itundes when ipod is connected")

Inappropriate?Thanks for the reply Tom.
However, I have a couple of more questions.
If I install iTunes now, before I get to select "manually manage music and videos", wouldn't it just immediately start syncing? I think I have dones it before and somehow, it wiped out all the songs off of my iPod.
Also, if I follow your steps and successfully have iPod through iTunes, I also need to start getting album arts, how come it would not save on Songbird? I can not edit anything through Metadata Editor through Songbird as well, I dont know what I am doing wrong.
i just installed Songbird last night because for the longest time I have been using iTunes and I am not much of a fan of it. Now that I have Songbird I would NEVER go back to iTunes again - unless that is the ONLY way I can edit my files or edit/save art work.
I’m frustrated

Inappropriate?there is the option under:
Edit>prefences>Devices>disable automatic sync for ipod
if you check that before you connect the first time, iguess it will not start syncing (have not tried)
regarding the album art on songbird, this seem to be a problem they are working on, it did not work properly at my ipod either. If you have the album art pics on your pc, you can put them on your ipod with Floola. It's a simple program which you put on your ipod (you have to "enable disk use") and you can edit your library and copy music to and from on every PC.
I guess we have to wait until they fixed the problem -
Inappropriate?Oh wonderful! Thank you so much. I will give it a try.
"Edit>prefences>Devices>disable automatic sync for ipod
if you check that before you connect the first time, iguess it will not start syncing (have not tried)" sounds right to me. :") -
Inappropriate?I have the same problem. After a windows-reload I switched from iTunes (which I don't really like) to Songbird and I love it.
Since I don't have installed iTunes (and don't want to) I would appreciate a solution to get the proper album art on my iPod.
I’m irritated

Inappropriate?Same problem, here. It would be nice solving that problem, 'cause Songbird is a great player for Linux Users.
When i'm in songbird i can see the artwork in the Ipod section, despite there's no covers in the Ipod itself. I suppose those covers are loaded from the general library, not from the device
I'm sure you will fix it, guys :-)
I’m hoping you'll fixit soon
